Lately, when I click on Macys website, I do not get pictures to look at the merchandise. What I do get is a list of all their departments on the left side of my screen. I do not know what happened. Even if I click on a certain item on their "list" it doesn't do any good.....nothing pops up on the screen.

Is uBlock Origin and Adblock Plus supposed to be installed on my computer?

I do not know what secure connection errors are.

If I hold down the Shift key and then google Macys.com, the Shift key causes it to show in all CAPS. Then, I do not know what to do.

This is about holding down the Shift key and click the Reload button (circular arrow) at the left end of the Navigation Toolbar to reload the current page. You can alternatively use Ctrl+F5 to reload the current page and bypass the cache.

Try to uninstall Adblock Plus and only keep uBlock Origin.

Two add-ons doing the same job can cause issues.

Is it enough just to remove / disable Adblock Plus from my Extension list? Will I start getting those pop-ups again? What does all this have to do with Macys website?

more options

The screenshot shows that some CSS files are blocked and since you have some content blocking extensions then one of them could be causing this. We have seen reports that ABP might be working too aggressive, that is why we suggest to only use uBlock Origin to test whether that works better.

Is it enough to disable them? Nothing is working out with this Macys problem. I've tried everything. Shall I try to send a screenshop tomorrow of my add-ons/extensions? I have no idea what a CSS file is.

A CSS and other such files tell the browser how to set up the webpage.

Removing an add-on should not be a problem as you can always reinstall it later.

Can you think of anything else that I can do that will solve this problem? I just tried again, and I am still getting that strange looking page. I get emails from Macys all the time with their home page on my screen, but as soon as I click on a certain department, I get that bad screen.

Could you possibly let us know which add-ons you have installed  ? (no need to provide a screenshot)

And (just to make sure) would you press the Alt key on your keyboard - in the upper left corner you will see (among other items) : 'View' Would you click on that and then on 'Page style' - which is highlighted : 'No Style' or 'Basic Page Style'  ?

One of the servers the Macy's website uses for style-related files has the name assets.macysassets.com -- for example:

Will your Firefox load those links if you click them? Note; the expected display is a continuous stream of text, no pictures, no layout.

I was able to load those two texts, then I got rid of them because I don't know what to do with them.....they make no sense. What should I do with them?

TO HAPPY112

The ADD-ONS ARE:

- Cookie Monster -Privacy Badger -Ublock Origin

I hit the Alt key.....went to VIEW on top of screen.....Page Style says...BASIC PAGE STYLE.

Now what do I do?

That was to test whether your Firefox was blocked from loading those addresses. Clearly it is not, which is good news. But leaves fewer explanations for the problem.

So you got rid of ABP and kept uBlock Origin, as suggested by cor-el, well done  !

I hit the Alt key.....went to VIEW on top of screen.....Page Style says...BASIC PAGE STYLE.

Just what it should be (thank you for doing that  !).

Now what do I do?

I haven't a clue .......

But somebody with better working braincells is bound to come up with the perfect solution for you (fingers crossed ...... )

'Just went over every post in your thread again and I noticed that you
never got an answer to the question you asked (twice) :

"Should I install Google Chrome and see what happens  ? "

Well, just to see if the same thing happens when you use another browser, I'd say : yes, but why not just try your system's browser (either
Edge or IE)  ?

I just had something strange happen.

When I waited for my computer to finish loading so I could send you a reply, all of a sudden, on the left side of my screen, a list came up with blue writing.........just like my screenshot of Macys. Only, it had to do with Mozilla support. Before I could look at it again, it disappeared and this reply box showed up so I could type a reply back. What was that all about?

Also, what do you mean by EDGE.....IE?

I was having a thought (and boy does my head hurt)

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Clear+Recent+History#w_how-do-i-remove-a-single-website-from-my-history

Remove History For One Site

Open the History Manager <Control><Shift> H. In the search bar, enter the name of the site. Right-click on one of the listings and select Forget About This Site. This should remove all information, including any passwords / settings.

Your OS (Operating System) is Windows - and Windows has its own browser, and that can be either Edge or IE (Internet Explorer). But maybe you have only Firefox set as your browser (?)

FredMcD just had a brilliant idea - you should try it  !!!

I did all that you said and deleted anything that said "MACYS."

Now, what shall I try?
