Lately, when I click on Macys website, I do not get pictures to look at the merchandise. What I do get is a list of all their departments on the left side of my screen. I do not know what happened. Even if I click on a certain item on their "list" it doesn't do any good.....nothing pops up on the screen.

You are running a insecure and unsupported version (52) Please uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. 52.5.0 ESR is secure. It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018.

You should make a backup of your Profile before going back and just because: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

This should fix your Issue.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

This is from an old bug report;

Bug 1242306 - Users unable to login to Macy's; Access Denied: You don't have permission https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1242306

Either of these makes Macy work:

network.http.spdy.enabled = false network.http.spdy.enabled.v3-1 = false

Type about:config<Enter> in the address bar. If a warning screen comes up, press the I Accept the Risk button. This is where Firefox finds information it needs to run. At the top of the screen is a search bar.

I installed the Firefox 52.5 but nothing happened. I don't know how to delete Program C files.

When I click on Macys.com, I get their website, however, when I click on something, i.e., shoes, apparel, etc., all I get is a list of their departments on the left side of the screen.......no pictures of merchandise.

Nothing on my screen says anything about being BUGGED.

I have never had this happen before with Macys. Should I try installing Google Chrome and see what happens?

Hi ChaCha, have you tried "the usual"?

If a site is generally known to work in Firefox, these are general suggestions to try when it stops working correctly:

Cache and Cookies: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Clear Firefox's Cache

See: How to clear the Firefox cache

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes. If you do not see the number going down on the page, you can reload it using Ctrl+r to check progress.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • click the padlock or "i" icon in the address bar, then the ">" button, then More Information, and finally the "View Cookies" button

In the dialog that opens, the current site should be pre-filled in the search box at the top of the dialog so you can remove that site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Testing in Firefox's Safe Mode: In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement?

I tried everything imaginable and it still is not acting right. I am able to see Macys home page, but when I click on a certain department (Womens, Mens, Home, Shoes, etc.), I get that strange looking screen with no pictures to click on. Do you think I should try and install Google Chrome?

This usually happens because some CSS files are blocked.

Do you have any content blocking extensions?

You can check the Web Console (Tools -> Web Developer) for messages about blocked content and about the presence of mixed or unsafe content.

You can check the Network Monitor to see if content is blocked or otherwise fails to load.

If necessary use "Ctrl+F5" or "Ctrl+Shift+R" to reload the page and bypass the cache to generate a fresh log.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

The instructions say that I need Firefox 57 and above. I have Firefox 52.5 Also, I can't find a PAGE ACTION MENU anywhere on my screen. This whole process looks very difficult.

Please skip the "Firefox Screenshots" screenshots section if you have Firefox 52.5 and try one of the other methods.

The instructions say to click on the PAGE ACTION MENU. Where is it?

Also, do extensions or add=ons have anything to do with the Macys problem?

If you have Firefox 57, it's in the address bar. If you have an earlier version of Firefox, skip over those instructions to the next section which applies to all versions of Windows.

Also, do extensions or add=ons have anything to do with the Macys problem?

Possibly. Any kind of extension which can block content from appearing in pages could cause issues with websites. But if you tested the site in Firefox's Safe Mode and had the same issue, then there must be some other explanation for the problem.

I think I have a screen shot now, but I cannot figure out how to send it to you. I clicked on the browse button, but nothing happens.

Is this what you wanted?

That was very good work. Well done.

The screenshot tells me the webpage did not load properly.

Load the webpage. Now hold down the <Shift> key and reload the page. This will cause Firefox to bypass the cache and do a fresh page load.

Hi ChaCha, thank you for the screenshot.

It seems uBlock Origin and Adblock Plus (or similar) may be blocking a lot of stuff. But you already tested in Firefox's Safe Mode where those would not be a factor?

Have you noticed any issues with secure connection errors in your Firefox?
