Application error prevents Firefox from loading
Since installing Firefox 56.0.2 recently I have repeatedly experienced slowdowns or complete failure to load. Error message reads: "The intruction at 0x..... referenced memory at 0x00000000... The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program."
I appreciate that there is a long history of complaints about this problem, and suggestions offered to remedy it. None of them work for me.
I cannot avoid the problem by opening Firefox in Safe Mode. Several times I have uninstalled Firefox several times, made sure to download the appropriate version for my system (Win 7, 64-bit), deleted Mozilla files in the Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders and then attempted a Clean Reinstall. I have run anti-virus and malware checks without identifying anything. Also did a Windows System Restore without success. Still the problem continues, regardless (but does not affect Firefox on my Apple Mac). Cannot find any fresh suggestions online so I would much appreciate some help with this.
Somewhere on Mozilla support I found the suggest of running Malwarebytes, Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit and Hitman Pro, one after the after. Hitman Pro identified some malware which has now been deleted and now I have successfully reinstalled Firefox - at last.Leggere questa risposta nel contesto 0

Did you do a reinstall with the Stub Installer or the Full Version Installer. Can make a difference : https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ can also try the 32bit until Version 57 Quantum Release Date Nov 14th. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/quantum/
Am suggesting this as so far today nobody has replied and I have not a clue as yes is a history of this and all solutions are archived as not same names or places since ver 54.
Now for working on Windows a idea for you if do not know. Repair System Registry and Files
(FOR DOING Above & Below - WINDOWS All OTHER VERSIONS - Use Search To Find Command Prompt ** Enter CMD.exe to Find COMMAND PROMPT Then Right Click & RUN AS ADMIN)
To run the SFC command use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the Power User menu and select Command Prompt (Admin). Type "SFC /SCANNOW" (without quotes or copy/paste) and press Enter. For more information on using SFC, please refer to the Microsoft KB: Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files
Run the Windows Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) and System File Checker (SFC) tools as Administrator. The DISM and SFC tools scan the integrity of the Windows image and all protected system files replaces corrupted, damaged and incorrect versions. (FOR DOING Above & Below - WINDOWS All OTHER VERSIONS - Use Search To Find Command Prompt ** Enter CMD.exe to Find COMMAND PROMPT Then Right Click & RUN AS ADMIN) Type "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" (without quotes or copy/paste) and press Enter.
Note : SFC fixes files locally using files found on your system. Note : DISM goes up to Microsoft for new ones.
Fixing this stuff could fix the other. Also update your Video Card Drivers.

Thanks, I will try these processes as soon as time permits.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Looks as if my earlier reply has disappeared somehow. I have now tested the solutions offered by Pkshadow and cor-el but unfortunately none of them have fixed the problem. Can't open Firefox, whether or not in Safe Mode, as it will not load beyond the error message. Running the SFC command and the updating of video card drivers did not help either.
