I recommend that you install a decent anti-virus/anti-malware software and do a complete system scan.

In the end consider (after the above steps) installing an ad blocker add-on like Adblock Plus and also updating your Firefox to the latest version.

If having issues browsing the internet then easiest would be to try using a second healthy computer.
