Do you think you might have set Firefox Beta to be the default app for any particular types of content? You can check and clear that in Android Settings, Apps, Firefox Beta. That screen should let you clear any defaults assigned to the app.

Thanks for replying, sorry for the delay but I deleted FF because it wouldn't let me sign in after starting the forum account, I really don't know if you'll ever even get to see this at the moment. I will reload the app and try FFB again but my confidence isn't really very high at all. I can't see what the word likes about Android other than it fits in your pocket. Whoop de do if it doesn't work. My best luck is to just request a desktop site near everywhere.. I had four googl updates earlier and everthing worked great for a few hours, then it all fell apart again. Longs I'm clearing data and caches 3 or four times a day in everything I use. It never helps for long. neither does reloading apps etc. I spend as much time fiddling with the thing as actually using it.

If you could respond again so I know if this is even working that would be great.

Thank you, for over a week in attempting to post in help, I couldn't. Or if I did, I couldn't access it to see my post.

BEFORE THIS POST IS OVER COMPOSER STRTS FREKING OUT autocorrect madness, scrolling at random, can't control......posting. Sign in appeared to work, I could compose, hit the post button, but nothing happened.

 Then I couldn't sign in. Even after this first question to work, I couldn't log in. I would be asked to start a new account.

The replies I made successfully were by email notification link. But I couldn't progress from there as the next screen as I posted would be a login, and that would fail.

 So being new to android, & FFB, I had no Idea what to expect or how to navigate when I did get a successful page to load. 
  I'm obviously on a help site now. Desktop? Or because of FF48?, Time?, Luck?????????

I reset to factory defaults on the device at one point, cleared data and caches,uninstalled FFB and turned off a few other things more than once to no avail.

I've also tried so many new settings apps and add-ons since this thread began, I can't begin to say what is or was going on.
 I have "Highlander finger" maybe the touch tech ignores me, maybe I can trigger it from 5" away. I know that's not FF, but a set of arrows and a toggle from cursor to scroll would be a great accessibility app. ( Forget voice, nearly as bad, no privacy or quiet around here anyhow. I used to do cash register tech too, touch screen inability made it impossible for me to test it well, or continue in the field, USB keyboard cord/ port quality is junk all around.. I ruined a few in less than 2 months)

I have loaded and used some cleaning/ virus apps, And I think I'm running ff48.0 today, and full time desktop add on. And avast, I'll see how it goes.

 A Hoopla site is my main use, they love to push for FF use to improve performance. Its always made things worse in the past IMO, but I keep trying as I liked the early Moz stuff. Any attitude is really frustration driven.

Ranty, but insight may help you help me, or others...?.

Laymen info for more advanced beginners is awful. Too many assumptions on what a user will know.. Searching on occasion for a year or two, I have never even been able to find a good detailed but laymen's terms definition of what sync really is other than the two extremes of " ties stuff together"or the circles of complete info basically over many users heads much like W1 Help1, it's too much or too little.( I met bill and ran W1 before it's release...help was a delay, & nearly scrapped for indexes, too bad it wasn't.) So I don't think I'd really use sync, no Fbook , twit, etc but how would I know without good description ? Am I using it?

 Constantly changing buzz words and icons don't help.
 Eventually I gave up really learning anything outside of my basic needs twenty years ago for the same reasons too. W7 made it all easy, and it's been down hill fast at MS since, and even they are focused on apps now, so I figured Id try what others praise....a mistake? Hardly a choice.

Im a regular user but not a tech chaser anymore. But I don't mind helping FF folks if I can too, so I loaded beta. I would do it again IF I could retain what is working, and test betas alone without as much interaction with other things. Interaction in depth with one thing at a time sure.

I do have issues with privacy and tracking having been raised by a WW2 vet that opened boxcars of those that were tracked long ago. I shut down all I can find and that normally helps for short spurts.

 The pesonalized and popular focus has also degraded every part of online use for me. I can't find things nearly as well as 5+ years ago.

  These settings being changed by programs during installations and updates used to be my number one problem. 
  I was told over and over that wasn't an Android issue. But I'm seeing more than a laptop, even with security. FBook and wikipedia just dropped new icons on my bare / clean wallpaper. I'm pretty sure in was from opening FF , or while I was deleting everything on the home page or tab page or whatever you call those things,( hate it, I like an old fashioned history, recent, fav, archive type . Homepage just a search and news page. I hate these file like pages, I prefer detailed lists &icons.
 Anyhow, when I shut these shares off, things improved in Windows, so I follow suit when FF acts up and stopped sharing. But it seems to get worse in android till uninstalled.

Firefox48 freshly loaded, system cleaned, opened itself on its own while composing in my stock browser. So I'm back to " why are things opening When I'm not using them?" And thinking it's FF or a FF info thing .

When it opens, what is there? Just the home screen with no explanation?

Some users have reported Firefox hooking the home button search function on some devices, but you didn't mention touching or long-pressing the home button...

This was a FFB question. Upon trying for a second install, I've ended up with FF48. It to opened on its own, showed FF home page, I hung on to the Wikipedia tab, removed the rest to avoid accidental taps. I may have long pressed home? Maybe not? Like I said Highlander finger. No new searches, only an email and forum bounce.

 FF search has also been opening on its own just a bit ago and with Beta.. This is a plain orange arrow icon on white search page

You mentioned default settings for use, the freakout kept me from finishing, I'm not sure. I don't remember ever being asked to set a" default" but I'm wondering if that's something I missed about the way it's presented to me in android. And why hasn't that been taken care of with deletion,and cleaning, and reinstalling either FFB or FF48?
