Firefox has intermittent problem with file transfer from a secure source, files dissapea during transfer and Firefox cannot find it

we transfer data files from a bank using a secure conection to a File Transfer application at the bank. The normal process is : 1 logging in 2. files available for transfer show up 3. we select a file and click to transfer 4. the download window pops up and we save the file

Intermittently, the process goes wrong and after step 3, Firefox gives the following message: File cannot be found: Firefox cannot find the file at address .... When this happens, the file has disappeared from the source server and it is not to be found on the download destination.

We have checked with the bank and the technical staff report that this problem only occurs with Firefox...
