Browser pages move up and down without touching mouse?
Last couple of days the browser pages move on their own accord! Annoying to say the least. Done a search and done checks as suggested by forums but this still happens. Could the issue be with a new version of Firefox in the background waiting for the install? Hate updating as that itself causes me loads of aggro with saved bookmarks and settings. FF seem to overlook us 50+ guys who just want things to stay the same such as homepage as search engine not tiles and new page overides!

Is the page movement just a little twitch? Does it match a single step of your mouse wheel?
If the answer to both is Yes or Maybe, your mouse wheel or its sensor may have become loose. This is not an uncommon occurrence and people usually first notice it the way you described - when websites start to "jump". You do not even have to be touching the mouse for the wheel or sensor to lurch forward or back a step, gravity or vibration will do the work for you.
Could you compare the abnormal movement to the motion caused by deliberate use of the mouse wheel? Could you try a new or different mouse?
I symphatise with the notion of "things staying the same"; I use my computer to earn my livelihood, so all unplanned change is a risk. Firefox has the ESR or Extended Support Release for just such use, i.e. when you don't need or want the newest features. Another very common problem if you have a laptop with a touch pad on it is that that is too sensitive. Maybe you changed your typing position, or even the clothing you wear. As you move near or brush against the touchpad it activates and scrolls the page. There should be an option to temporarily turn off the touchpad, often by a keyboard shortcut such as something like Fn + F7

The OP chose a Solution though, so apparently they did get their issue fixed through mouse repair or replacement. John's point about touchpads is also valid.

Could you please start a new thread for your question?
Then you can provide more information like your operating system and installed extensions and installed plugins.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
