ok great, thank you. this looks like it may be caused by external software on the computer. please go into your system's control panel and remove any software labelled "Freecorder" or similar or by the publisher "Applian Technologies" or any other toolbars.

hello, could you provide your latest few submitted crash reports? please run firefox in safemode and enter about:crashes into the location bar, copy the latest few report ids from there starting with bp- & paste them here into a forum reply. this will give us a better understanding what may be triggering those crashes.

I'll try, but I can only get FF to open when the PC is in safe mode. I try to submit crash reports but it says it can't send them and when I follow the instructions to go to "Run" and open the submitted crash reports there aren't any.

Ran PC in Safe Mode and did as instructed and all that showed up was this from when I last tried to make FF work:

can you click on those two reports once? only crash reports which start with bp- got transmitted to mozilla's servers. additionally and as a precautionary measure, you could install and run a scan with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes, adwcleaner & kaspersky security scan since malware is one factor that might cause firefox crashes on startup...

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites. Is the problem still there?

Try to start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the Shift (Mac: Options) key to see if that helps.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.

Thanks for all the suggestions which I have tried.

1. The links for the two reports weren't clickable.

2. Even holding shift down FF won't start in safe mode - it only launches if the computer is in safe mode.

While still in Safe Mode,

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it and select Submit.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.

If you can't get Firefox to open, you will have to do this the hard way. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozillacrashreporter Open the file browser / explorer on your computer. Note: You may have to enable Show Hidden Folders / Files. Enter this in the address bar;

Windows: %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted Win 7/Vista: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted Win XP/2000: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted

Mac OS: /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Crash Reports/submitted Linux: /home/<username>/.mozilla/firefox/Crash Reports/submitted

Copy the last 5-7 Recent File Names in the folder. Post the information in the reply box below.

There are only two crash reports which I've now managed to submit (currently in safe mode with networking )

Brilliant! I simply closed the Freecorder program in Task Manager and Firefox opened! Thanks for the help!
