Firefox is causing OS X El Capitan to crash with alarming frequency. When are the issues with firefox going to be fixed? I've had to completely migrate to Chrome because of these issues with Firefox.

What Firefox are you using?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites. Is the problem still there?

I'm running version 41.0.2 which firefox says is the most up to date. I'm also running OSX version 10.11.1. This situation is happening on two different computer and firefox is causing the OS to crash on both computers so it's very clearly a Firefox issue. I'm pretty sure it's related to a memory leak in Firefox because I've seen it once throw an error that it's using too much application memory, but most of the time it just crashes the OS completely. If you stream a few hours of netflix and/or youtube you can probably reproduce the crash on any computer running OS X El Capitan.

Starting an application or the OS itself in safe mode is not a real solution to any problem.

Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes). If the problem goes away, that tells us one thing. If it does not, that tells us something else.

It's the same for the computer in Safe Mode.
