I'm trying to transfer my favorites from one computer to another, both using Firefox. Also, How do I get some of my favorites to show up on my tool bar in the latest version of Firefox?

Soluzione scelta

All if your Firefox settings, including bookmarks and saved passwords, are stored in a profile folder. The location varies depending on your version of Windows, so please check this article for more information on finding it: Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.

Note: By default, Windows hides all of the application data folders. You can unhide them by changing a setting. This article has the steps for more recent versions of Windows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/wi.../show-hidden-files.

Now... once you have all that info in a convenient place, you have a few different options:

(1) Selectively copy over a few files. This article has more info: Recovering important data from an old profile.

(2) Just restore a bookmarks backup: this would completely replace the bookmarks in your new Firefox with the ones you restore. If you have new things you do not want to lose, then you can add the optional steps:

  1. (Optional) Export bookmarks: Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks
  2. Restore backup: Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer
  3. (Optional) Import bookmarks: Import Bookmarks from an HTML file
  4. (Optional) Reorganize the imported bookmarks into logical locations (they might be in an Imported Bookmarks folder on the menu or in Unsorted bookmarks)

(3) Wholesale transplant. I've posted steps for this in the past, but I'll need to look it up. Generally speaking, after doing this, your new computer Firefox looks almost exactly like your old computer Firefox.

Is the Bookmarks Toolbar displayed below the address bar? If not, you can use one of these methods to show the toolbar list and select Bookmarks Toolbar there:

Success?

If the problem is that the bar is empty and/or that you can't add bookmarks to it, please post back for additional suggestions.
