Cannot login to PayPal due to Untrusted Connection prompt

I cannot access the secured site https://www.paypal.com. Whenever I try to load the site, the following prompt appears (see the attachment), with no possibility to add an exception. My system is Microsoft Windows 8.1 x64 Edition Build 9600, I'm using Mozilla Firefox 37.0.2, I'm also using Kaspersky Internet Security, version 15.0.0.463 (b). Thank you very much for your help. I finally located the Cert folder, it was hidden, of course, but with the help of this thread here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1020310, I was able to unhide it and find exactly what I needed. The PayPal site loads perfectly now, thanks again! All the best, have a good night (if it's night what you have now),

It is possible that Kaspersky is intercepting the connection and is sending its own certificate.

Open this chrome URI by pasting or typing this URI in the location/address bar to open the "Add Security Exception" window and check the certificate:

  • chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul

In the location field type/paste the URL of the website

  • retrieve the certificate via the "Get certificate" button
  • click the "View..." button to inspect the certificate in the Certificate Viewer

You can inspect the certificate chain in Details tab of the Certificate Viewer.

As you can see the certificate is issued by Kaspersky Anti_Virus Personal Root Certificate.

You can import the Kaspersky root certificate in the Certificate Manager under the Authorities tab.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Certificates: View Certificates

You can find the Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Root Certificate in this folder:

  • "C:\ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab\AVP15.0.1\Data\Cert\"

Set the "Trust this CA to identify websites" trust bit to make the imported certificate work as trusted root certificate.
