This is unacceptable to me as it ruins podcast listening inside Firefox. They play in a blank window and I got no controls, it just plays so yeah...nah, I turned it back on. I think it's the trusty-media PPA which tossed out Flash Plugin for Shockwave Flash and also installed Totem and such, which I remember was fine way back when I was using Ubuntu, but with Linux Mint 17.2, getting more and more independent from the official Ubuntu repos, I think this could cause issues.

Random crashes have stopped since FF 41 came out. But youtube videos unless they are embedded will crash FF. Also some websites will cause it to crash. But I made a new thread specifically about FF in Linux Mint 17.2 crashes. I wonder if the Linux Mint Edition 1.0 has something to do with it, although I doubt it, the trusty-media PPA was full of goodies but some I will have to remove, but I'm not sure which I need to take out.

If using Windows 7/8 and it's 64 bit, I suggest using Waterfox, same thing as Firefox except it's 64 bits. Much less issues with memory and it's exactly like the Firefox you otherwise love. Memory is much better managed with it.
I've made my own thread about my own problems now, as suggested, I'm not sure but it could have started when I added the media-trusty PPA and it install Totem and such, but I don't know how it could do so. I'm puzzled as to why I can't put youtube back on Flash mode, it used to be an option once you were in youtube.com/html5, anyway..Made my own thread because my crashes are not limited to youtube thumbnail links from searching it crashing firefox 64 bit (Linux) anymore, but also random crashes when I'm not even at the desktop now. I might boot up in Windows 7 x64 until I get that bug corrected.

I'll try the GStreamer thing tomorrow, I'm really tired.

If this fails, maybe mods can take my posts and your replies and make a new thread, would be annoying to restart the whole discussion. If that's not possible, well, we'll see tomorrow. It used to be easy to tell youtube to use flash again, in youtube.com/html5, you could just disable it there, but since the Flash bug plague of 2 months ago, it seems youtube is preventing one from doing such. In my Win7 x64 Ultimate partition, I use Waterfox for its 64 bits advantage, I'll return to Firefox most likely once you have multithreading going while in windows (since windows is a resource hog even on the best systems, I do my best to keep it as fast and efficient as possible. I can't say if it happens to me when I am booted in win7 x64, I run Waterfox there, until Firefox comes up with multithreading at least, I'm taking advantage of its 64 bit nature.

This stuff happens whenever I click on a youtube link after searching for a video. Embedded videos play just fine though. I am using html5, I don't know how to put Flash back, maybe, just maybe it would stop the crashing. I've sent tons of crash reports since this is happening, it started happening since the last update. I'm using Linux Mint 17.2, latest Firefox, 40.0.3 Linux Mint Version 1.0, but you can see all of that in the bug links...please help this is really annoying. I need to start Chromium or Opera otherwise and those don't have the security add-ons I usually want to have, they have some but its nowhere as complete. The plugins do not cause the crash, turned them all of as a test, and I saw in the bug link that the plugins were said not to have caused it even, the first page is easy to read for me.

Hi Sugram22, new major updates are not supplied to all users immediately, since there sometimes are bugs that require an emergency update. Therefore, three out of four Firefoxes may report there is no update available during those initial days and this is normal.

Hi Sugram22, if Firefox is using default settings, when an upgrade changes the default, your setting will also change. If you customized the setting, then the upgrade should not change it, however, if your custom setting is the new default, then on a later update, if that default changes, the setting could change.
But in this case, the bigger issue is that Google started forcing HTML5 on YouTube for Firefox, and Mozilla added a setting to block it, then Google changed its default, then it changed back, I mean, I cannot keep track of the history any more....
