Backup profile from windows and restoring on MAC laptop

Hi,

I have been using firefox for past 8-9 years or so and have many history and book marks save in windows firefox profile. I have moved from windows laptop to MAC laptop and wish to reuse the same profile. I did backup from windows laptop. And while firefox is window is closed, i copied all the files from the windows profile to the MAC default profile replacing existing files having same names. started firefox but do not see restore is successful (e.g. i do not see old urls getting listed in the address-bar when part of url is entered)

Any help is highly appreciated.
