I finally found the solution! With help from my friends at Dell Computers, that is. The crash was due to the C: drive becoming overloaded with data. On advice, I purchased an USB portable hard drive and moved all the data not needed to be on the C:\ drive. It would be nice to have more than "common sense" to decide which files and folders are needed to run the computer nicely. If there is a book or manual that can list this for me, I'd buy it and check regularly. The computer now runs nearly like a new one and I'll be looking for a while before upgrading. Note that USB hard drives are relatively inexpensive, but need to be treated similar to the way most USB drives are (Don't just plug or unplug while the data is flowing). Storing unused files will pay off so that you don't get caught having to clean house at a very busy time. Enjoy...

I've been using Mozilla Firefox browser for the better part of the last two decades, having always found it to be the most functional and useful over all competitors, who generally seem more interested in raising revenue or spewing puerile and slanted politics. I've been accustomed to the occasional "crashes" and always provided input when they occurred, convinced that the interruptions would be brief and with any issues resolved. Today was different.

Lately, my processor was experiencing some "aging" issues: slowdowns, freezing forcing me to re-start, and random re-starts on its own. Over the weekend I conducted a comprehensive series of diagnostic tests of all features of the operating system. To my relief, the system went back to normal and efficient, including the browser -- for about 2 days.

Early today the browser became slow, eventually inactive, and ultimately crashing 7 times. But all these time were different: my input into the "crash warning box" was not permitted and closing the box only resulted with the next crash. All crashes had the same reason posted on their reports: "Crash Reason EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION."

When the crashes finally ended, my browser looked totally unlike it did before:

(1) ALL of the shortcuts I entered on the home page and relied upon for years VANISHED. (2) ALL of the browser windows and the open tabs I was working through at the time EVAPORATED. (3) ALL extensions I saved and used routinely GONE.

By the end of the day, one spent trying to resurrect "my" Mozilla browser with minimal damage, something else disconcerting occurred: the processor's operating system randomly shut and re-started. I don't want to point fingers just yet and allege this was connected with my browser failing, but the coincidence is troubling, one I would recommend looking into. My assistance is, of course, automatic.

So, similar to this post but I haven't downgraded, only upgraded.

OS: Windows 11 (26100.8893) Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:153.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/153.0

I can load it up in the morning, load all my standard tabs, then not too long into it a tab will 'crash' and require a reload. The reload then says its a dramatic crash and the whole browser needs to restart. Soft or Hard (i.e. "Exit") restarts always then ask to create a new profile on startup. This means I lose so much configuration (settings, etc) that is not in the Account Sync, meaning huge amounts of time have been wasted setting Firefox back up again every day.

When I go to about:profiles I can see all the old and new profiles (recently cleaned up all the old ones).

I do use my FF Account across various versions of Firefox (run a linux OS that still has a 14x version - need to upgrade OS to get more recent, but its a significant upgrade that had previously failed so not high on my 'want to resolve' list) - all the Windows OS's have the latest FF.

Can get very little done in my eMail for www.att.net. Yahoo.com does also crash occasionally.

I've tried reloading my software for ATT.net, Norton.com, Dell.com and others as I went. Reload went okay, Tried several reboots. Still no luck.

- However I think it may be to do with a recent bookmark entry stored in the bookmarks bar?? The website is a national UK hardware store and it seems to open OK. I cannot be sure but I think the problem started after I added this bookmark. It is a real nuisance and I have had to switch to Edge. Please advise how I might fix the problem.

Hi my firefox just updated to version 153.0.1 on all 5 family computers some running win 11 and some win 10 and 2 win 11 pro. now we all experience firefox crashing and not loading pages. When we go to settings and select contact support it says the system crashed. Is there a way to roll back to a version that works without crashing without have to revert to goggle chrome or edge? regards Mal

When launching Firefox, an "Application has stopped working" error window appears, yet Firefox itself still starts up. This error also pops up intermittently while using the PC—even when running Firefox in Safe Mode.

Ever since latest update (153.0 (64 bits) everything crash. I can open Firefox, but as soon as I enter a website, regardless of what it is, it won't load.

If i try to close the app, there's always a process that keeps running. It can't close. And if I try to force it it says that access is refused.

After that I keep receiving these errors that Firefox is already open and I need to close the last process of Firefox to continue but even if I say to close, it keeps repeating until my PC finally crash.

Everything was working 100% until Firefox updated itself. No Windows update nothing.

I can't even send crash report since it does the same error.

Firefox keeps shutting down and it will open up when I tap on the icon. I have to reload it to make it work, It seems like I have to do this everytime I shut the pc.

Firefox frequently and continuously force-closes the entire program on me, multiple times a day. I have tried updating my computer, checking for Firefox updates, and any extension updates that could be affecting this. HOW DO YOU MAKE THIS STOP?

Hello, Whenever I open Firefox, it crashes repeatedly. This has been going on for at least a couple of weeks, whether it's right when I open it or hours later when I'm in the middle of something. I've disabled extensions, ran it in troubleshoot, and done the steps advised to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this has rendered Firefox unusable. Attached is a screenshot of the digits of the crash reports, as well as the link for the one from today.

For the past few weeks I have been having constant crashes in the form of tabs crashing and complete browser crashes. I have tried disabling every single extension, still crash. it even crashes in troubleshoot mode. In fact its crashed while I am writing this. Seriously thinking about giving up entirely on this browser and switching.
