v3.6.17 history sidebar/view/by site/ folders will not delete

When I select the history sidebar view by site the sites are deleted when Firefox closes but the folders remain. Right clicking and selecting either delete or forget this site does not remove the folders . these folders only show up in view by site . They are not in any of the other view choices. How do I remove these folders.
