How can I get firefox to delete files I choose to "open with" after I select a file but don't want to keep afterwards (i.e. a pdf of a menu from a restuarant I just want to see)

I want to be able to just open files just once without firefox saving them to my "downloads." For example, I like to eat out once a weekend. I select a new place and get a menu, typically in PDF.

I click the link to the menu and I say "open with" instead of save. But after browsing, I just want to close it and forget about it. Ultimately I end up having 100's of pdfs saved under my "downloads" folder when I specifically didn't "save as."

Same with research papers (or anything else I choose to "open with").

I'm tired of forgetting to delete the files and end up with GBs of papers, pictures, pdfs, docs, etc........
