When I delete a sent folder, it does not go to the Trash folder. Instead, it disappears.

I have a PC, Thunderbird 38.5.1, Windows 7, and use IMAP settings for my Charter account. I first want my email to go into Mailwasher 6.5.4, which it used to do before. Now, the email bypasses and goes straight to Thunderbird.

Worse yet, when new emails come in, the old ones disappear. Anyway, when I delete a sent message, it does not go to trash. When I delete a received message, it does not go to Trash. They disappear. Also, after one or two emails, Thunderbird stops receiving emails, and I have to close and open it to get the new emails.

My Charter account insists on using IMAP, which means everything has to be synced. I think the problem is there. Someone help with this problem. It's driving me crazy because it means I have to answer and/or save emails immediately or they may disappear before I get to them.
