Hello guys, My problem keeps annoying me since FF 35 so I used version 34.0 till now. I checked if newer versions had it fixed, but nothing happend. Example: Normally if I would search something, like youtube for example and press "y" it would show me past searches that begin with "y" and suggestions that begin with "y". If I clicked with the middle mouse button on "youtube" (still only tipped "y" so far) it would open inside a new tab and would jump to said new tab. Inside the searchbar it would be auto-completed to "youtube". But since FF 35.0 it doesn´t auto-complete and jump anymore. This is really annoying when you have lots of tabs opened. Also if you close the tab but want to search again, because you forgot something, you have to delete "y" and press it again for past searches/suggestions or tip the second letter "o" to re-open the past searches/suggestions. If it had auto-completed at the first time that wouldn´t be necessary.

I already tried to find addons that would maybe fix it, but with less success. Only one that would interfere with the standard left mouse button behavior.

I hope you can help me with this problem^^

this is not a problem, just search for everything on google and you will find it, you don't have to make it so complicated

I assume that you are referring to searching via the location/address bar.

Are you keeping history if you check that in the History Manager (Library)?

The location bar drop down list can show history items as well as bookmarked pages and websites currently opened in tabs

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Location Bar: When using the location bar, suggest:
History
Bookmarks
Open tabs

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Never remember history).

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"

No, I didn´t mean the location/address bar. I´ll attach a pic to let you see what i mean. It confuses me what happend to that function during the version change.

Firefox 34.0.5 and later have a new Search Bar that doesn't show the 'icon' for the selected Search engine as before - that screenshot shows what looks like the old Search Bar.

Did you revert to the old Search Bar scheme via about:config? Toggling the "browser.search.showOneOffButtons" buttons pref to False reverts to the former scheme.

Or maybe that black theme changed the Search Bar pref - "browser.search.showOneOffButtons" to false?

I changed it myself. But it wouldn´t change anything if I revert it back to "true"
