I had to reload firefox after getting xpcom error messages, now i can't work out how to restore my passwords,bookmarks etc from my sync profile that i set up months before.

Being a weird person, I always saved my sites on my firefox browser and for my own reasons, hadn't bookmarked them and always kept them open on tabs to pick up and read at a later date, and as a result, racked up a lot of different tabs that were all very dear to me. However due to a catastrophic hardware failure a few hours ago I lost everything on my local files, including my backups of all the firefox tabs. I was hoping that if there was a remote possiblility that if the sync was able to record tabs, that it would also save all tab information from previous browser sessions.

Hey hey So On my old system I logged into my FF account did 7 syncs just in case whi all were telling that I'll have all of my stuff right away but.... I reinstalled Windows and... installed Firefox and got freaking 00000000 zeeeero tabs or passwords synced.... All of the manual attemps of sync got nothing, absolutely nothing!? So what was the point of online account which does nothing and just give a fake faith??? I would rather do cp -r of local foler as I did for the last 20 years.... But this time I was faked with fake "sync all good" which doesn't work and just fake people

hi. i change my windows and now I need to restore my old setting and bookmark to new pc but i have not any backup file i was thinking my account save all of my data & setting in cloud but now i cant access to my setting and bookmarks

what can i do? pls help me

Good afternoon, I restarted my windows computer because it was buggy and right before reinstalling I synced the Firefox account so that whenever I reinstalled Firefox in the PC once more I could have all my bookmarks.

Now while setting up, I find out none were synced? It doesn't appear and obviously I don't have access to the "old" browser to manually download the html file. This was weird because last time I downloaded Firefox in another device and logged into my account it automatically synced and configured everything as it was.

Please advice if there's any way to restore my bookmarks at least because I need them for work.

i have been using firefox for like an year, found out now that the email i used for my account on my browser is wrong, the domain has a typo. Does it mean that now all my passwords are saved on a firefox account i cant even access (i have to still finish the setup, obviously i cant as i cant get a code in an email that doesnt exist) and that i cant remove it, ever? Does firefox sync up stuff on an account without the setup even being done yet? Or is the stuff just saved locally and im good with removing the account?

I had experienced the dreaded "XPCom error" and had to do a clean reinstall of Firefox (I know, I should've followed the rule of saving anything important in 3 separate locations.) I had re-logged in and noticed I didn't have any of my bookmarks or anything. Am I out of completely out of luck in this case of trying to get anything back?

After installing Mozilla on my mobile phone and syncing with my laptop all my bookmarks and history are GONE from my laptop. When attempting to restore them, following your suggested instructions, no dates appear when clicking the restore function. Deleted Mozilla from my mobile phone, still no good. Do I need to recreate all my bookmarks again?! How? When attempting to bookmark a new site it does NOT bookmark! No new history is showing either! Very disappointing, should I just return to windows again after years and years with Mozilla? Andrew S

I had sync turned on before I reinstalled my OS, and now I have lost everything. Is there anyway to recover the stuff that should be there? Yes or no. If yes please provide steps, and not the self help articles here as they are worthless.

The Firefox for Android application data grew excessively, exceeding 1GB. Clearing the cache did not help, nor did deleting site data from within the app (while keeping cookies). I was forced to use the "Clear data" option from the Android system settings. This completely wiped all settings and extensions. Despite having Sync enabled, logging back in did not restore all extensions, settings, open tabs, shortcuts, or organized saved sites.

Firefox has exceeded all previous mess-ups by upgrading itself today (apparently sometime when my battery went flat and was then left recharging), and this happened despite my account being set for 'upgrades to be only installed manually'. Now every bookmark, all passwords and all the settings of my Home Page have been erased. I have no 'restore point' to resort to as supposedly all this info is synced to the cloud. But I can find no method to retrieve any of these files let alone one to restore them. This is a nightmare. Please help.

Firefox keeps stopping on my Android; in fact, it won't even load. I have tried clearing the cache and clearing the storage, but that has not solved the problem. If I uninstall and reinstall Firefox, is there a way I can save my bookmarks? I don't think I am currently signed into (or registered for) Firefox Sync. I am hoping it might be possible to do that from my laptop. The bottom line is I really don't want to lose my bookmarks if at all possible. Thank you for any help/ guidance

A power surge took out my computer during a Windows up date, I could not recover anything, so did a fresh install of Windows........now, I can't get Firefox to bring over my bookmarks. I am so upset and lost right now, I'm sure I'm just missing something to do. Please help.

I had some issues with Firefox so I removed and I reinstalled it. I had a Firefox account with sync enabled on since one year ago. However after the update, I couldn't recover my old profile: my bookmarks are gone. I don't know what to do. None of the guides were helpful. With an account and sync on, should have been enough to restore my data, right?

for context: my laptop was working/running completely fine last night, as of about midnight (east coast). booted it up around noon today to see that it was super slow and kinda laggy (this is a windows problem, not a firefox one, don't try and fix that, i know it sucks), and that if i restarted/shut down, it would automatically update (not what i wanted). when i did finally begrudgingly restart my laptop, it auto-updated as windows does, and i expected to open up firefox and go on with my day.

unfortunately, it prompted me to make a new user. and when i signed into my firefox account, it treated the browser that i have used for at least 8 months like i had freshly downloaded it. all of my history on here is gone. all of my bookmarks are gone. when i connected my phone to try and sync from what i had left before i updated, all my sync information went down the drain and is completely gone as well. i really don't understand what went wrong here, and i'm honestly devastated that all of my work and my history has to be painstakingly rebuilt.

if anyone has any idea of what happened here, it'd make me feel a little better and try to avoid it in the future.
