Hi, Thunderbirders -

Regarding the recent HostGator foreign-based DOS attack problem that resulted in having all my messages prior to 10/04/2024 wiped from my host account, I was able to download the entire Thunderbird folder, containing all these previous messages, from my office PC which was not online at the time of the incident, and which I have deliberately kept offline since:

C:\Users\User\Appdata\Roaming\THUNDERBIRD

Now I need the procedure to locate the older messages wherever they are stored in this folder and successfully download them (from 2017, so may have to do this in batches) into the current version running on my laptop, before I again attempt to login to Thunderbird from the office PC. Any step-by-step instructions would be greatly appreciated, and thanks again for all your suggestions so far.

FYI, the app itself is not infected with any virus - the messages were erased as part of the HostGator reinstall process, not a ransomware attack.

Email provider is Microsoft 365 (via GoDaddy). It is set as a POP account on Thunderbird and all works correctly. When Thunderbird downloads new emails, they correctly show as "Unread." But on our phones (both iPhone and Android) the emails appear as "Read." This occurs even when the email are unread on Thunderbird. If Thunderbird is closed and a new email comes into phone, it correctly appears as "Unread" on our phones. But when I open Thunderbird and that same email gets downloaded (but not selected or read) the email becomes "Read" on our phones. I have gone into both Outlook and Thunderbird and have deselected any options that would automatically mark emails as read. This is annoying because, if Thunderbird is open on my computer, when I look at my phone, I get no notifications of unread email.

For years, I've used TB to keep all my e-mail communication in my own computer. Since our local provider (Frontier) switched over to Yahoo, I had to change my server info to IMAP (yahoo), and I can no longer view any of my old e-mails. Is there a way to access these? I have MANY that are related to my business. Thanks!

I imported a bunch of emails we recieved (EML Files) into Thunderbird, however Thunderbird is not showing me the correct date of the email. In the "Date" column as well as the "Recieved" column it is noting the day I uploaded the emails to Thunderbird. It is imperative to get the dates corrected.

Migrating to Linux after the latest Copilot/Recall issue yesterday.

Setting up Thunderbird for my Microsoft O365 accounts (I have 5 companies I support).

Automated setup for IMAP/SMTP was smooth and no issues. All settings are correct within the application itself. I'm an admin of 3 of companies for O365, and I can confirm that the settings in the app are set correctly.

However, when attempting to send the application will not forward the message. No message inside O365 to indicate why not.

I hae about 6 email accounts managed in thunderbird (most recent version). When I try to unsubscribe from a spam email and it wants me to enter my email address to unsubscribe, a drop down list containing my various accounts appears. Unfortunately there is one entry in the list that is not one of my accounts and I cannot delete it. How do I get rid of it?

some messages in my TB (128.3.0esr [64 bit]; macOS 15.0.1) do not show any content or show only completely random numbers, letters and other characters. Sometimes what helps is moving messages between the folders.

There is not such problem when viewing the e-mail via webmail.

Hello, both my wife's and my thunderbird are not connecting to the Frontier/Yahoo email server. When I click Get Messages there is no indication in the information bar that it is trying to connect. Note this is on two different PCs. After a while I get a timeout message. Thanks for any help you can provide.

My spellcheck used to use the enter key to accept choices. Now I have to use the cursor to accept the proposed choice or a choice from the dropdown of possible choices. This means a lot of cursor movement.

I have an IMAP account using Thunderbird. My email folder tree included a folder named Farmex Shows & Conferences. It was there a couple of weeks ago as I saved an email to a subfolder in it. Then the main folder referred to above disappeared. I have been in tech support correspondence with zoho who host our email system. They do not appear able to help. Is there an explanation for this folder going missing? Can it be recovered? Is it possible operator error has deleted it or moved it?

When I start a message to a person and start to type their name, Thunderbird offers me a list possible folks. Sometimes, it offers me an multiple candidates, SOME of whom are not (or not longer) in any of my address books. Why is that?

Hi, since 9/30/24 no emails have been loaded on Thunderbird. Has a new update caused this problem? I am running the most current one, 128.3.0esr. Thanks for your help! Nora

Hi, We absolutely don't want the Microsoft Outlook mail program that they are forcing on Windows Mail users. I can no longer access my emails through that program.

We need to know the key features of Thunderbird and if possible how it compares to the "NEW" Outlook amil.

I ask the comparison in part because we mainly don't like the forced use of the "cloud" aspect to their program and apparently having to sign in to it every time I try to open Windows mail.

Your prompt response is appreciated as I can no longer access our two personal email accounts through Windows Mail.

I found an interim solution to the problem of the corrupted PDF files by Thunderbird Nebula, as follows:

take Thunderbird offline - move the email with the corrupted PDF attachment to Outlook Archive folder - put Thunderbird back in the online modus - move email from the Archive folder to the Incoming Post folder

Problems with Thunderbird Nebula corrupting PDF Files continue. When receiving the same email on the same computer in the same place at similar times, Thunderbird randomly corrupts the attachments, while the same email and its attachments are displayed correctly in the Outlook App of Windows and on the phone. Yesterday Thunderbird has downloaded a PDF file which could be opened but some fields in it were shown as blank while they were correctly filled in, today a complete sales Offer in PDF is corrupted and cannot be opened. Fortunately Outlook does not cause this problem. If not fixed , this will become a blocking issue for the use of Thunderbird

Thunderbird versions: 128 esr and 131 (both exhibit this problem). OS: Windows 10.

Issue: Thunderbird freezes when trying to save all attachments. This occurs when using "Save All". The dialog box to select the folder appears and then Thunderbird stops responding. "Not Responding" appears in the dialog box title. Windows then pops up a dialog offering to close the program or wait for it to respond (which it never does). No crash report is generated.

Note: 1. This issue does not occur when using "Save As..." and saving the attachments individually. 2. This does not occur when dragging attachments (all, or individually) to the Desktop or to other folders 3. This seems to occur independent of the types of the attachments.

Is this a bug or is there a way to fix this?
