After having a number of tabs set up and one opened, none of the other tabs remains activie.

Once in a new site, a new tab, my other tabs become inaccessible. They simply won't open. Even if I reload them, they will not open. Plus there is this strange pink dimple at the end of my tab list. I have no idea what it is or what it does.

Try to close the current window and open a new window to see if that new window works better.

Start Firefox in Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
