l may be missing your intent, but I still believe your challenge is that you are composing in plain text mode. In plain text mode, the 'insert' option does not appear on the toolbar. You either need to press the shift key when clicking 'new message' or set the account to compose in HTML at 'account settings' and then in 'composition & addressing.' If this is wrong, please let me know.

Also, although your questions are always welcome, please try to stay within the original thread for continuity.
