Firefox in an enterprise environment. AppAutoUpdate=1 and BackgroundAppUpdate=1 My goal is to have PC's automatically update so Tennable Vul Scan doesn't go critical every other week. This is affecting most of the PC's as far as I can tell in our environment. If the user actually opens Firefox and uses it, that appears to resolve the issue.

Task Scheduler successfully completed task "\Mozilla\Firefox Background Update 308046B0AF4A39CB" , instance "{e8f86ec1-b3c9-4591-ad09-3bb858dece98}" , action "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" with return code 2147942421.

It's my understanding that this operation should be handled by Mozilla Maintenace Service and should be able to update in the background every 7 hours if the browser is not opened.

Couldn't find this return code associated with Firefox so I'm hoping the pros here have some insight!

Manually pushing the installer is time consuming and like many companies who like to use Firefox as an alternative browser not running Chromium and/or for their IT dept I'm considering removing it from the environment due to the background updates being difficult compared to Chrome. Chrome has the force restart, etc for GPO.
