I'm working on an iMac, Monterey 12.6 and using Firefox 105.0.1. In Settings, I can only choose to have downloaded files be saved in the Downloads folder. If I were to check the box "Always ask you where to save files", it won't fully download or will be sent elsewhere on the Mac hard drive. I tried reading other articles that dealt with changing True/False settings in Firefox, but I really have no idea how to do that and if it made it worse. How can I fix this properly so that when I choose to download a file, I can also choose to save it in a specific folder? I'm also not sure if the Applications choices (how Firefox handles various files) is incomplete or not working.

This part is definitely not how it is supposed to work:

Is there any possibility that MacOS is restricting what folders Firefox can write to? (As a Windows person, I'm not too familiar with MacOS app permissions.)

Thank you for the reply. No I really don't think it is suppose to do this either. I couldn't find anything in OS preferences that would effect app permissions. Although I could have looked in the wrong folders. Any Mac users out there who know about this?
