Since the latest update of Firefox (to 90.0.2) I've found that, when confronted with a login-password screen, Firefox recommends a number of login possibilities ... but not the correct one.

As an example, when I log into a newspaper account, I'm offered three emails as possible login names...but NOT the email to which the account is registered. The only password saved in Firefox for that account is the correct one. The newspaper help desk had no helpful answer.

I do not leave my computer running 24/7 and so the browser is closed regularly

I've tried removing the login/password information, re-starting the computer, and then signing in, but this did not solve the problem.

Should I roll back to an earlier version of Firefox, or do I need to leave everything running all the time forever to avoid this?

Thanks! Sarah

That could be the form filler built into Firefox. Click in the field, enter a character or two and STOP ! Using the arrow keys, highlight an unwanted entry. Then press Shift > Delete Repeat as needed.

If you do not see this correct item in the Lockwise Password Manager then try to create a new login yourself. See also: "Use Saved Login/Password" in the right-click context menu.

You can also remove the current login in Lockwise and see whether Firefox offers to store the password.

Okay so if I understand you correctly... I go to the login page, add a few characters, highlight and delete them.

If so, then alas this doesn't solve the problem. After I remove the characters, nothing comes up and when I begin to type in the email address I am offered two addresses that begin with the same characters ... but not the one I need.

Thanks, though!

Thanks. Cor-El

The correct login and password is in Lockwise. I have tried deleting it and adding it back in (which I did successfully) but it still won't come up.

Could this possibly be related to Microsoft's totally inept efforts at world domination? My university has a contract with them, so my email address is run through Outlook and their cloud system. I've had other issues with them.

Can you select this login if you right-click in the username and password field and look at "Use Saved Login/Password" ?

The issue--at least the login part, not the "throw every possible email at the poor subscriber part"--seems to involve the newspaper and their need to update a file.

Until I remember where else I have this issue I'm going to let sleeping dogs lie ...

Thanks for your help with this extremely frustrating and stupid issue!
