I'm currently having trouble connecting my ProtonMail account to Thunderbird.

My login credentials are correct (I've double-checked them), and the configuration follows the official guidelines (server, port, password, etc.). However, the connection keeps failing.

Could you please advise me on how to resolve this issue or let me know if there’s a specific procedure to follow when connecting a ProtonMail account to Thunderbird?

Freezes while composing message Thunderbird 138/139, Windows 11, in safe mode and troubleshoot mode

Thunderbird 138/139, Windows 11 Pro 23H2. While composing a message, after a few lines the app freezes. Both the compose window and the main TB window freeze. Only opening the Windows Task manager allows me to close them. This did not happen with earlier versions.

If I save the message every few seconds while composing I can get most of the message back and continue after restarting TB. This behavior is the same in both the normal and troubleshooting TB modes. I can't even find a crash log to send to Mozilla.

Where shall I look next?

After updating Thunderbird to version 139.0.2 Thunderbird can't connect to my E-Mail provider! Getting error massage saying “user name or password are wrong!” It happening on my PC with windows10 Pro and the same on my laptop with windows 11 Pro. On my browser or my mobile, I can connect without any problem to my e-mail provider. After consulting my provider, his suggestion was to try installing my account again. I did but it didn’t work (same error) I tried installing older version which Thunderbird was functioning on. It didn’t work either. Even that I cleaned my PC from Thunderbird totally. To clear this point on Versions 139.0 and 139.0.1 Thunderbird function as always before. Up to now any Thunderbird update took automatically the existing setting without any problem. Any information how to solve my problem? Thanks.
