I have no problems typing in a textbox on most websites, but for some time now, when I type comments on YouTube, the box alternates between working and freezing about every 7 seconds. It will work fine for 7 seconds. Then freeze for 7 seconds, then back to working again.

Any idea what the problem is?

I normally use Firefox Developer Edition, version 127 because any later version always freezes my whole computer (probably because I'm using a 15-year old PC). Recently all my extensions became disabled. I'm now also unable to install any extension because it says "Installation aborted because the add-on appears to be corrupt". I found some instructions on Mozilla website about deleting compatibility.ini and extensions folder, but it didn't solve the issue. Now I'm stuck and confused as I suspect some of the extension files that should be in my Profile folder may not be there.

The simplest solution in this case would be to use the "Refresh Firefox" option which resets everything to default settings, but every time I do it my computer freezes until rebooted. Uninstalling and reinstalling manually is also not the way to go, because it retains all the settings.

I've tried installing the standard Firefox browser (v. 119) alongside the Developer Edition but the same issue is there as well.

I'm looking for an alternative way to get a clean Firefox install, so I can fix my extensions.

Additional info: - Your system specs? Windows 10 64-bit, 4 GB RAM, Pentium Dual-core, no GPU - Hardware acceleration? Disabled. - Using any mods? Yes, two. Geckium for Firefox, which always works fine. The recent issue started when I played around with Revert8Plus, but it initially worked without issues.

I use Firefox with DuckDuckGo on Ubuntu 24.04, Gnome desktop. My Firefox browser window regularly freezes but can be unfrozen by simply repositioning the window. This is really annoying.

I also use Chromium on the same system and there are no issues.

Any ideas?

Firefox constantly freezes up as soon as I right click on menus. In the expand/droppdown menu square box that pops up when I right click, is first just white (to text) then goes black and freeze. I understand the Win7 gets no support but does anyone know about this issue and can I go back to a version that does not do that? Preferably a version that does not hound me to update every 10 sec :)

I have a new desktop i7 computer with 16 GB of RAM. Why are my Firefox browser screens locking up? I'm running Windows 11 Pro. I don't have this problem with Chrome.

Firefox continuously hangs and locks up. It has 15 or 20 processes running and then stops responding when I click on a link. I shut down Firefox and restart and it runs fine. I restarted this session 10 minutes ago and searched for "Limit Firefox sessions" and it already has 14 processes running.

Something is wrong with that.

In "Performance", I Unchecked "Use recommended performance settings" and checked " Use hardware ..."

In the current version, Firefox slows, freezes and requires restarting. This seems to happen after about 8-12 hrs of being open (several windows and several tabs per window). Firefox is using ~5gb memory (system has 64gb).

When we get to this point, opening a web page will pause for 5-10 seconds and then complete. Pressing exit at this time has the same affect - 5-10 sec pause and then close tabs. Restarting Firefox fixes everything. Have to do this this at least 2x per day.

I’m running into a frustrating issue with Firefox. Whenever I paste a large amount of text (especially code) in one go, Firefox freezes and becomes unresponsive. This happens frequently in various web apps like ChatGPT and Make.com.

It’s not a one-time thing—it happens consistently when pasting large blocks of text. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a known issue, or is there a way to fix it? Any tips or workarounds would be greatly appreciated!

Hello For some time now, Firefox has not been working normally: - response time gets longer the longer I use it - to the point where it hardly responds to clicks at all. I have the latest version: 135.0.1 I've uninstalled it completely, then reinstalled it completely, without any change to the problem. I've disconnected all extensions except Proton Pass and Proton VPN What can I do? Thanks

MY BROWSING IS VERY, VERY SLOW. I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING EVEN CHANGING MY INTERNET PROVIDER. CAN YOU HELP. SOMETIMES IT DISPLAYS "COULD NOT CONNECT". REALLY FRUSTRATING AND ANNOYING. FOR EXAMPLE I CAN'T EVEN CONNECT WITH DVLA OR INSURANCE COMPANIES.

Hi after MS installed the Feb 20 update Firefox freezes on pages particularly Youtube where a video will play but any click action causes it to lock up. Is there any way to refresh or reinstall FFox without losing bookmarks etc?

I used to play World of Tank and look at YouTube on my second screen. Everything went smooth untill this week. YouTube on Firefox on my second screen is lagging or freezing. I tried Opera, I tried Edge it worked fine, but with Firefox, it is no more possible to play YouTube on my second screen while playing. It is not a matter of graphic hardware as this issue only happen with Firefox. I tried to deactivate every module and to reinstall Firefox (either the Beta version) but still got the same lagging and freeze on YouTube. Do you need anything that can help you to investigate this issue, this is really terribly frustrating and boring.

For the past week or more the browser freezes up. A message comes up about "waiting" or discontinue. It often finally begins to work again; however the problem persists and very annoying. Can anything be done?
