Foxfire hangs whenever I start it. I get a window saying it is already running, but it is not.

I have tried the following: Disabled extensions Disabled add-ons Removed places.sqlite and places.sqlite-journal Uninstalled and re-installed Foxfire

I cannot open Foxfire even on a fresh boot.

As is evident from my original post, I already tried those potential solutions. I ended up solving the problem by eliminating all of my profile and re-installing the program. I lost all of my bookmarks etc. I suspect a problem in the most recent upgrade, judging by the similar problems posted here.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
