Your iPhone loads its data from the Sync server instead of storing it on the device like a desktop computer. If you have changed the password of the Sync account then this data would have been wiped and thus the iPhone device can't load that previously stored data. It would have been better if you could have recovered the password via the iPhone and hadn't reset the password. Now your data is lost because you changed the password of the Sync account.
