The website is http://vk.com/zlodeyi. I visited it several times, but it is never added to history. I have no problems with any other website, including other vk.com groups. The site is displayed correctly and is shown in recently closed, but not in history, No problems with it in Opera,

History and cookies can be removed or not recorded several ways;

  • 1) Running Firefox in Private Mode (nothing is recorded)
  • 2) Privacy settings
(Type about:preferences#privacy<enter> in the address bar.)
  • 3) Many disk cleaners and anti-virus type programs can remove data from browsers. Open their settings and have them leave the browsers alone.
  • 4) Mal-ware.

No, it has nothing to do with Flash player. There are even no flash objects on the page. I explored the problem further and found that other pages from vk.com are also not added to history, while they did it normally previously (and those that were added before are still there). So, for some unknown reason, Firefox stopped adding vk.com pages to history, while other websites are added normally. My privacy settings demand remember all history, and I didn't run any disk cleaners or antiviruses recently. What can filter a specific domain from adding to history?

Note that the System Detail list shows that you use an old and no longer supported Firefox 22.0 version.

  • Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:22.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/22.0

Any special reason why you haven't updated to the current release?

I did. There is no malware blocking vk.com (or any domain) from adding to history in Firefox. There are some special add-ons for doing this, but I don't have and never had them.

I do HATE updates and avoid them unless ABSOLUTELY necessary. Ver. 22 works fine and I don't want any changes! This issue is the only one, and it is not because of the old version, as it didn't happen before under the same version.

"http://vk.com/zlodeyi is saved as; ВЕЛИЧАЙШИЕ ЗЛОДЕИ | VK" It does not happen in my case. Did YOU read what I've written? All vk.com pages stopped from adding to history. Neither their names nor their locations. Nothing is added to history when I open a vk.com/,,, page. Nothing at all, no new line, in any form.

Now you have a clue. Go to that web site. After it loads, open the History Manager. What is the most recent entry?

I did it before many times. As I've said, there is no sign of the visited vk.com page, So, the most recent entry is the most recent NON-vk.com site visited,

Other than a private window, I'm not aware of any way to visit a site without it appearing in history. Perhaps the places database is corrupted. You may want to make some extra bookmark backups, I suggest using both formats:

The reason not to run 2-year old versions of Firefox is that they contain documented security vulnerabilities that can be exploited to take over or install malware on your system.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file (bookmarks, history) in the Firefox profile folder.

Yes, this add-on said my database is corrupt. However, it heals headache with a guillotine. It said it cannot rebuild my database and, without asking my permission, deleted it! Luckily I had a backup. Before I restored from the backup (which is recent and thus also corrupt), I checked the VK issue on the new (empty) database and yes, it is gone, But I definitely don't want to lose all my history to fix it! So, is there any way to fix places.sqlite without losing its contents? E.g,, to export history to some other format (I can see all entries, so they are not lost!), rebuild database and import the entries back. Again, I am speaking about HISTORY, not Bookmarks. I have no problems with bookmarks.

There is a lengthy procedure in the following article. I have never tried it myself: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Tech/Places/places.sqlite_Database_Troubleshooting#How_to_%28try_to%29_recover_from_a_corrupt_places.sqlite

It worked! Thank you very much. I just had to run Place maintenance once more after that, otherwise History was too slow.

Note that you can also try to use the SQLite Manager extension to check and inspect the places.sqlite-corrupt file.
