So apparently I got another update to thunderbird today. Now NONE of my emails will download. Never had this problem before.
After being gone all day, I come home to see a new version of Thunderbird is up, Aug. 28. My phone tells me I have 9 emails waiting for me, but I can't get any of them to download to my computer. Never happened before. Everything else seems to be working. I did sent out one email ... not sure if it was successful.

Usually issues with a new version such as you describe are caused by anti virus program. Mostly their firewall component which blocks internet access for the program, although the mail scanners are also probe to failure at this time. Sometime leaving a status message of connecting forever.
Open the error console (Ctrl+Shift+J) clear it and attempt to get your mail. What appear in the error dialog.
Ok, tried that. There was a bunch of stuff listed, cleared all. No good. Did it again and showed ... Timestamp: 8/30/2015 12:57:27 PM Error: An error occurred during a connection to imap.veracitynetworks.net:143.
SSL received a weak ephemeral Diffie-Hellman key in Server Key Exchange handshake message.
(Error code: ssl_error_weak_server_ephemeral_dh_key)
Cleared it again. No good. Did it again and still showed the above. Also checked firewall and it is OK. Appreciate your help.

thanks for your help Matt. Tried that. When I put it over the 'Get Add-ons" I get this message in red at the top ... The add-on downloaded from addons.mozilla.org could not be installed because it appears to be corrupt. I will contact my ISP, but that might be quite some time before they get around to fixing it, if ever. Thanks, Steve
wow, you are taking me to places I have never been before ... anyway, I did the first two --- the others were not on my list. It now seems to be working great. THANKS!
