I installed and set up Thunderbird on my Mac in order to create a backup for a Yahoo/AT&T email account which I may be getting rid of. I used the imap configuration and connected just fine, everything downloaded and I see that the number of messages in my inbox is in the thousands (yes, I'm a person who saves everything in my email, please don't judge). The synchronization and storage are set to synch all messages locally regardless of age and don't delete any messages. However, when I search for old messages in my inbox, it produces no results. When I scroll through the inbox, the oldest message I can see is about 7 months old. There is plenty of storage on the computer. Any advice on how to get access to the older messages and how to make them searchable? Is there a limit to how many messages Thunderbird can display in the inbox? The whole point was to create a searchable backup of everything for when I get rid of the email account. Thanks!

OS: Windows 10 (64 bit) Thunderbird 128.10.1esr (32bit)

I have used Thunderbird without issue for a few years. Today, my inboxes are partially full and emails have mysteriously disappeared. I opened it in safe mode and all the emails are there. I followed help suggestions to disable extensions and addons. The emails have not returned to my inboxes but still appear in safe mode.

I am not a techie and find this very challenging.

I've tried unchecking things in settings without success to stop Thunderbird from automatically collecting email when it launches. I need to be in complete control of when Thunderbird collects email from the server. Could this be a Windows 11 issue? Thanks for any help you can give me.

A few months ago the search feature stopped working. I used to be able to search for a message or messages by entering a search term in a search field, and/or using a filter like subject, sender, etc. But a few months ago that stopped working. Instead, there is no search field (except the general one searching for the term anywhere in the message) unless I click "quick filter", which then provides a more targeted search. But it calls up a random array of messages bearing no relationship to the search item. This is only on my MacbookAir. My iPhone also has Thunderbird but its search function seems accurate, only displaying what the search value is, except it doesn't get many when I know there are more in my inbox. My inbox is horribly overfull--I keep hoping to be able to find the ones I want to keep without deleting everything.

I checked the Thunderbird site and discovered much more complicated than the last time I looked. Right now all I want is the old one to work correctly. Thanks. Margaret Phillips

When I receive an e-mail that has a JPEG attachment (Windows 10 Professional 64-bit), Thunderbird opens the JPEG image with Microsoft Photo Viewer. When the image opens, I cannot rotate the image. If I save the image and then open that saved image via the same Microsoft application, the rotate icon in the upper left is operative. Is this due to the permissions in the image being opened by Thunderbird from alt/local/temp? Thanks.

Hello, I still have this problem, does anyone know how to fix this?

Cannot delete a folder under my Local Folder. I have deleted it several times, and deleted the trash also, but no matter how many times I delete the folder, and restart Thunderbird, it still comes back.

How do I transfer my address book contents (which are quite big) to my Thunderbird account on a new computer? I followed the copy and paste of the profile, but this did not seem to work. Is there something specific that I can do as this is really vital for my work?

Hi I am trying to reinstate a email account that stopped working. It's a gmail account. I've got it back to the point where it says it's connecting ("Looking up..." then "Looked up") to the account but I can't see any folders. No messages are being downloaded. No other errors. I've checked the setting in Gmail. Not sure what else to do. Please help. I can't even delete the profile and restart, the profile isn't anywhere to be found on my PC. I've unhidden files and searched for Thunderbird and it's not there.

Hello, I have a problem with creating messages. The new message button does not respond to clicking (the same with file > create > message). You can reply to messages normally. Please advise how to fix the problem.

Today my email suddenly will not load onto my computer but I can view the email in the web browser. The error says The certificate is not valid for server. I did not set this email up and need step by step instructions.

I've finished setting up the S/MIME encryption in Thunderbird, and imported all the certificates needed. When people with the certificates emailed me, I could receive and read all the emails. However, when I replied to the same people, I got the error message saying 'End-to-end encryption requires resolving cerficiate issues'. My colleagues imported the same certificates without any issues. Do you have any suggestions for me to solve the issue? Thank you very much!

I get an error saying Thuderbird is already running and old instance needs to be closed. When I press the Close button I keep getting the same error message in a loop. I have to cancel and come out. However I am not able to access the mailbox using THuderbird. The problem is that there are some folders that I have created on Thunderbird with sensitive information that I am not able to access. What should I do to retrieve the Thunderbird and the associated mails and folders. Thanks for the support. Suresh

When I run Thunderbird release 138.0.2 64-bit, the Inbox is empty, even when I click the "tree" icon to fetch new e-mails. Instead, a side-popping message box displays "Connection to server pop.orange.fr was reset". Please advise. The Orange messaging service works properly, so why shouldn't Thunderbird?

Hi, I have had to re-set an email account as the servers updated, but I cannot send. I have done what I was told on the set up, and TB has found it and I can receive emails from others, but when I try to send, I get an error message saying "OK IMAP4 Ready". Tried deleting it and starting again, but still the same.

I want to move thunderbird data to a new computer. Whan i install Thunderbird in new computer in Roaming is not showing Thunderbird nor Profiles so I can not copy data , just saying: C:Users\LENOVO\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\uyo5m2az.default-esr is not available? Data that I am copiing from old computer are thunderbird/128.10.1 while in new comuper downloaded insallation is /128.9.2?

My thunderbird email account password was set by an IT, the IT passed away leaving me without my thunderbird email password, please I am trying to log in from another Labtop to my Thunderbird email. Please assist with this matter
