I'm using latest Firefox version 17 but on the internet it tells me i would use Firefox 3.6. My PC is an Intel Duo Core Processor from 2007 on Windows XP Service Pack 3. How's that possible and how to fix this problem?

Your user agent string was corrupted in the past when you were using Firefox 3.6 and it hasn't been updated since. Try reading How to reset the default user agent on Firefox
