Firefox does not launch the URL I clicked in Apple Mail

I recently set Firefox as my Default Browser. URLs I click in Apple Mail launch Firefox but not the URL, the default opening page appears. If Firefox is running, the URL I click opens in a separate Tab. I am Running Mac OSX 10.6.4
