New tab page is just blank

Guess I started out wrong , I have a new Win 11 computer with firefox installed , on my old Win 7 firefox machine a new tab always shows several news stories and recently visited sites . How do I get this new computer to also do the same ?

On the new tab page, do you see a pencil icon in the bottom right corner? If you do, click on it and select "Shortcuts" and "Recommended stories".

If you do not see the pencil icon, go to settings -> Home, and select "Firefox Home" as the option for New Tabs. Then proceed with the second sentence.
