Hi,

Trying to login to access microsoft products and this works with all browsers except Firefox. I'm reduced to using Edge or Chrome... Well Chromium.

I believe this is due to MFA and it going in a loop, see the screen shot, it keeps taking me back to this page.

I know the username and password are correct, but it still loops endlessly no matter how many times i put my password in.

I've also ticked allow single sign on for MS account, i've cleared history, caches, cookies etc, even reinstalled FF thinking maybe I had ticked something somewhere but to no avail.

Please note, I am working for a business so I may not be able to provide info sensitive to the business. however this is the page it keeps redirecting to.

Any help would be appreciated.

You appear to be using the current Firefox 102.0 Nightly build.

Does this also happen with the current release (100.0.2) ?

This issue can be caused by corrupted cookies or blocked cookies.

  • check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab in "Tools -> Page Info -> Permissions"

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, DuckDuckGo PE, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.

You can try these steps in case of issues with webpages:

You can reload webpage(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Settings).

"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"

"Clear the Cache":

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> [X] Cached Web Content -> Clear

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

Hi, thanks for all the replies.

I have attempted the above and it unfortunately has not worked either. I tried on a new device with a fresh install of FF and it didn't seem to work either. I still get stuck in the same login loop, endlessly putting in my username and password to no end. To confirm, i had also attempted it on another device thinking maybe the FF install i had or maybe somehting i've done with the current install wasn't playing nicely with Microsoft, but same deal.

I also attempted a reinstall of FF but no luck there either.

The authenticator app is already being used but it's not generally something we use unless we're remoting into a PC to provide support, it's generally used when off prem after hours.

At the time, i was using nightly to see if a more bleeding edge approach may work but unfortunately it did not.

Any more info or steps would be greatly appreciated, very impressed by the response time and the reach out of the community.

Did you already had Nightly installed and used an existing profile as the Nightly builds use their own profile and a new profile would less likely have such a problem ?

Such issues can be caused by blocked (third-party) cookies or by a blocked referrer as the main causes I can think of.

Anything helpful in the Web Console ?

You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
