Hi everyone!

I'm running Windows 7 64 and FF64. I have UBlock Origin and Ghostery as add-ons.

8 times out of 10, everything is fine. Then, usually in certain websites, there will be a visual lag. Meaning, I don't feel the CPU going faster or getting louder... but firefox seems slower, and sometimes the Windows 7 taskbar gets laggy as well.

Whenever this happens, all I need to do is minimize FF, and then maximize FF again, and the visual lag is totally gone. Or, I start up another program, like Word.. and the visual lag is gone.

I've tried uninstalling both add-ons, and it definitely doesn't lag as much, but every so often it will.

I also turned on hardware acceleration recently, and it made the problem ALOT better... but its definitely still there.

I've actually re-installed windows 64 7 recently to try to fix this issue.. and it hasn't gone away. Its such a minor issue, but I'm on my laptop all the time and I know the solution isn't far away... but I just can't seem to diagnose it. Please help! :)

just keeping a running tally of what i'm doing for the sake of anyone following...

I just rolled FF back to version 50.0.... I remember things starting to have trouble with one of the more recent updates.... and just rolled back all my add-ons to comply with version 50.0 as well.

Just re-updated FF to 55.0.3 and re-updated all add-ons. A website lagged pretty badly even quicker in 50.0

What Firefox were you running?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Hi Fred - I was running an older version.. lets say 51/52.... and with the big update to 54 (i believe), it started working a bit funky.

I will admit also that as part of my attempts to fix the problem, I completely re-installed windows 7 64 and firefox... so I'm diagnosing from scratch.

Am now running in safe mode.. it should be fine, as FF 55.0.3 hasn't had the problem much without the add-ons.. but I'll give it a day and update you!

Hi Fred... yes, just did it again running Safe Mode... it does it on one specific site constantly... but doesn't do it on my work computer on the same site running FF 54.0.3. Maybe this is an OS issue? Or maybe a VRAM issue?... but just not sure how to remedy it.

And, I just tested out Opera... to see if it had the same issue, and it does. Have both ghostery and ublock on... will try without both now.

OK just confirmed it happens in FF with ghostery/ublock on AND off...

so this is apparently an issue with my computer. And I just updated everything as well. I have no idea why this is happening anymore.
