How can I add a follow-up date as an email attribute listed by Thunderbird?

In Thunderbird's list of email messages, I want to ADD an email ATTRIBUTE (Message Column) which will permit inserting a follow-up date. Is that possible now? How can I request this as a new feature which will sort emails by my chosen follow-up date?

There is a Thunderbird Add-on called "ColumnsWizard" that will let you do this. Thunderbird menu: Tools: Add-ons. Type (or paste) ColumnsWizard into the search bar.
