When I open Firefox the page is transparent so I can see my desktop but blurred so I cant read anything - how do I clear this?

My home page, which is a blank page, appears transparent with the menu bar at the foot of the page. I can "see" through the page to my desktop anf just about make out the text but it is blurred. I have managed to work out how to get a normal page by selecting the "Open Menu" option and then choosing "New Window". The first window is stillopen in the background. I am on the Release programme using 48.0.1 and running Windows 7
