I've searched this for weeks now- nothing I find answers it...!

I'm using Gmail IMAP & retrieving in TB. When I try to create a group BCC, that is the error & nothing sends. I've tried even one, completely normal email address-- just sending to one person-- same error?

What's happened to TB? This appears very widespread & also just about the time v.38 was released. Is there anyone at Mozilla actively looking at it?

In the age of remote connections (Teamviewer, etc)>..you'd think that the quickest "fix" for a team is a remote session to actually "see" what's happening, vs. a week of back & forth forum posts which leave it unsolved, over & over. Is this possible to implement?

re :When I try to create a group BCC

Do you put a minimum of one email address in a TO field and then all others in a Bcc field ?

People who tend to send deliberate spam use the Bcc field, so this might be a methof used to force at least one email in a TO field, even if it is your own email address, to combat spam.

Please try this and report back on results.

The "local part" in the context of email addresses means the part to the left of the @ symbol.

When you say 'a group BCC' are you talking about a list of individual email addresses or are you talking about a 'Mailing list' ?

If 'Mailing list': Open a new Write message and select the 'Mailing List' exactly as you have been doing in the past. Then create a screenshot of that Write window and post it into the forum so we can see the exact wording - how it looks - where spaces etc have been used etc.

I think we've tried every way known to man to try to get this to work. Using mailing list still plops the names in individually anyhow...I've also run into a snag whereby Gmail is tagging even a 5 recipient email as spam...This is with me logging directly into the Gmail website & trying to send from there (eliminating the TB middleman until I can hopefully find a solution).

Look, all my friend is trying to do is take over for a homeowner's assoc. & send out the occasional "what's happening in the neighbourhood-type newsletter. It worked fine with Westnet, but that acct. belongs to the outgoing guy. There are currentky 160+ members & more to come.

Lastly, This friend has just today left for a holiday until the 12th. Until then, he's back to temporarily using the old members email. It's so frustrating how awful email programs STILL are, considering it's the ONE thing we ALL use & it's like it's never evolved beyond the confusion of getting them set up & running correctly.

Thank you for your response & help with this. Can we leave this open until then? Rather than me starting the same topic again in two weeks?

re :Using Thunderbird 'mailing list' still plops the names in individually anyhow

Only if you are doing it via the 'Address book' - this method is used if you want to see every name because you might need to remove some email addresses.

If using the standard method of selecting 'Write' and locating the Mailing List from the Contacts sidebar then it only adds the actual mailing list name.

You can leave this open and I'll keep it 'followed'.
