Why is my attached file size limited to 500k?

About two weeks ago firefox refused to attach files bigger than about 500k (i.e. quite small). Google mail has no problem on the same computer.

It is possible that security software (Anti-Virus, firewall) is causing problems. Try to disable your security software temporarily to see if that makes a difference.
