Cannot login to any https:// sites (e.g. Amazon); page never loads
Using FF 41.0.1.
Started a month ago.
I attempt to go to a site (Amazon and Snapfish for example) and immediately I am forced to the https version. For Amazon that looks like.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/gw/ajax/s.html
I attempt to login but it never works. It will be stuck in an infinite load cycle and never move from the login page.
Any ideas?

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.
- Clear the Cache and
- Remove Cookies
Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to.
Type about:preferences<Enter> in the address bar.
- Cookies; Select Privacy. Under History, select Firefox will Use Custom Settings. Press the button on the right side called Show Cookies. Use the search bar to look for the site. Note; There may be more than one entry. Remove All of them.
- Cache; Select Advanced > Network. Across from Cached Web Content, Press Clear Now.
If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;
Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.
Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.
Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?
Then restart.
1) Confirmed Java 2) Cleared Cookies and Cache (and for that matter cleared all history) 3) Started in Safe Mode and turned off Use Hardware Acceleration.
Now I get the following error from attempting to login to Amazon
Secure Connection Failed
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
- The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
- Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.
Try to rename the cert8.db file (cert8.db.old) and delete the cert_override.txt file in the Firefox profile folder to remove intermediate certificates and exceptions that Firefox has stored.
If that has helped to solve the problem then you can remove the renamed cert8.db.old file. Otherwise you can rename (or copy) the cert8.db.old file to cert8.db to restore the previously stored intermediate certificates. Firefox will automatically store intermediate certificates when you visit websites that send such a certificate.
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that helps.

Still the same problem: It is stuck in an infinite load cycle and never moves from the login page.
And for what it is worth, I cannot use Chrome or IE either in order to login.
If clearing cookies didn't help then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies got corrupted.
- Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and if present delete cookies.sqlite-shm and cookies.sqlite-wal in the Firefox profile folder in case cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

This was partially helpful.
I can now log into some https:// sites (Yahoo, Google) but I still cannot get into Yahoo or Shutterfly. And this cuts across all my browsers (IE and Chrome as well).
Also, when I use my office VPN I can connect, but not with just using my home network.
