New tab doesn't display websites well.

A few days ago, I had a problem with new tabs. It was just a blank page instead of websites. This problem was solved by going to 'about:config' and changing the value of the 'brower.newtab.url' to 'about:newtab'. This worked, but I have to do this everytime I restart firefox. Can anyone help please?
