Google is responsive to trademark infringement complaint for its ADWORDS program. Yahoo's advertising program constantly permits advertisers to infringe trademarks and does not respond to complaints. Reflects really poorly on FireFox, which we used to hold in high regard. All the ads on Yahoo are infringing our trademark and Yahoo legal is not taking action to remove the advertisers.

If $ are at the source of FireFox switch, then your "commitment" to keeping the web open and valid is looking like a sell out switch as well. Very disappointing, especially having contributed to Mozilla supposed "volunteer". And your file upload doesn't work.

Are the ads different when you search Yahoo in Firefox vs. other browsers?

I assume you submitted your complaint to mailto:trademarkconcerns@yahoo-inc.com per the advice in https://advertising.yahoo.com/ad-policies/ad-policies-mobile-ads/index.htm

Did you also submit your complaint to Microsoft, which appears to be handling the ones sourced via Bing? http://advertise.bingads.microsoft.com/en-us/trademark-misuse

Thank you for your prompt reply and the links to the complaint forms. We've been submitting them for years, so we are quite familiar with the process. Google and Bing are responsive, Yahoo is not!

The problem stems from the fact that FireFox, who we have grown to trust, made Yahoo Search the default search without alerting FireFox users that you have done so, nor did FireFox provide an alert with instructions to revert to Google, should the user so choose.

This is not in keeping with FireFox's open, transparency commitment, which makes it sound like it is $$ driven, rather than mission driven. It's like saying that you care about humanity, and then source products from impoverished areas of the world in the name of $$.

Re: Are the ads the same as those appearing on other browsers, yes, but I thought that FireFox was not like all the other browsers. What happened to your manifesto to do good or better?! ...Yahoo just doesn't deliver on so many levels that it reflects really poorly on FireFox.

We have learned over the years that Google is responsive to intellectual property complaints and takes their position as the leader in global browsing very seriously. Unlike Yahoo. From other comments it looks as though I am not the only one to want Google back.

MOZILLA "The Internet is an integral part of modern life—a key component in education, (isn't FireFox now teaching that manifesto is just lip service and the $ is really the KEY component) communication, collaboration, business, entertainment and society as a whole. The Internet must enrich the lives of individual human beings OR is the internet used to enrich FireFox and Yahoo at the expense of human beings.

Suggestion: INFORM USERS about Yahoo, INFORM USERS how to revert to Google and make it easy and permanent to revert to Google. Thanks for your consideration.

I'm sorry you are having trouble with Yahoo. Please keep in mind that you can easily switch Search Engines to whatever you want in your Firefox install.

The switch to Yahoo was not a decision we made lightly, it was made because Yahoo is not only a company more responsive for doing good on the web, they are a company that more lines up with what our goals are in the future. Obviously, not dealing with trademark issues is not one of those goals. I'll let our team that works with Yahoo on a regular basis know your complaints and hopefully things will be resolved quickly.

What search engine you get as default now depends on the locale one is using. The en-US Firefox used by many in US and Canada has Yahoo as default search engine with Google available as a choice.

Yes, we know. We figured that out right off and made the change. The problem is for those who don't know about your change nor how to revert to Google. FireFox does not provide an alert nor guidance.

If Yahoo was really the search partner that you are are professing it to be, we would not be having a conversation about trademark infringement.

Suggestion: Post a big alert and share with users that they have a choice and if they want to revert to Google, what is involved. Should be at the top of the FireFox search engine field!

I'm not quite sure why you think Yahoo is worse than Google, just as many people report problems with Google not respecting trademarks as Yahoo does. In fact, Firefox itself suffers from trademark infringement on Google's pages when we had a contract with them. As I said, I'll have our contact with Yahoo look into the issue.

And if we decided to sign a contract with Yahoo to make them the default, why would we be encouraging users to use Google? That kinda defeats the purpose of a default search engine contract doesn't it? It's very simple to change search providers, and we provide plenty of documentation on how to do it.
