lately there is something going on with either Fire fox or the internet or something..

When I click on something, fire fox just sits there saying "connecting".. Many times I have to click on something several times or exit firefox and restart.

I tired uninstalling firefox, rebooted my windows 7 computer, reinstalled firefox and still get the same problem.

ALSO, Downloads,. Having problems downloading now. Seems the downloads never START.

I used A few addons such as download helper, and such and they are totaly out of whack now. Download helper won't work unless I go to tools, addons, then close the tab.. then when I select the file to download, it put it in a que..

I use Adblock Plus and Avast AV, and Admuncher. I've turned them all off, and STILL have problems with downloading and connecting..

If I am forced to have to see and watch endless advertising to be able to use the internet, I will pull the plug on this thing just like I did the television 12 years ago.

You may have several different issues. First, your link to the web. Second:

You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select Network. Look for Configure How Firefox Connects and press the Settings button. Check the settings.

Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

did all that.. the only thing I changed was to auto detect proxy settings.. Still have the same problem.

everything else is fine. All programs, Firefox, AV, etc.. are latest versions. All java related stuff, is updated. What few addons I use, are all updated with the exeception of Download helper, which hasn't been updated in months.

No idea what is causing the problem..
