Sometimes Firefox stops to send/receive all tcp packets, so there is no any site available to open. There is no even request to server, when i try to open any site. During this stuck firefox.exe takes 25% of cpu usage (one of 4 cores), perfmon says - One of process threads wait for network Input/Output. It looks like socket is blocked on some operation for some reason. Only firefox restart can help in this case. So what can be a problem ?

The problem: I am accessing a webmail server (Outlook) located at a British university. Either when I log in or log out there, Firefox stops responding. I have to close the window and then restore the session to get my tabs back (which has led me to open very few tabs these days).
The diagnosis: I thought it might be malware, especially because sometimes tabs opened with the name "prosperent", but were not fully loaded. I think whenever I used CCleaner just before logging in, the log in was smooth.
Attempted fixes: - First of all, I reset Firefox internally - to no avail. - Next, I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, but the settings were remembered for some reason. So I uninstalled again, deleted all personal Firefox setting folders and reinstalled it again. Firefox was now pure in start mode - the problem persisted. - Then, I installed a malware programme to check for hidden viruses in addition to my normal anti-virus programme. The malware programme found a few cookies and deleted - the problem persisted.
I would be happy to know what else you might recommend here.

This happens with FF 46 32 bit, 64 bit, portable, on Win 7 32 bit, 64 bit and windows 10. It happen in safe mode. It has all plugins up to date. I t has remove all but needed and non removable add ins - such as Flash, Acrobat Reader, etc. It happens on computers with plenty of RAM (16 GB). Oddly enough, it happens worse with safe mode and plugin container is run-a-way. With normal mode, it appears that plugin container is under control and Firefox itself runs amuck.
So - totally repeatable. Page down in Firefox with one or 50 tabs open - no matter. It will crash. Goes black, or stops responding. Until Firefox closes. NEVER happens with Edge for example.
I have to think it is a Firefox memory leak, but even using Firemin does not help much if at all.
What can be done? I have done my homework!

Sometimes the inspector behaves buggy. I am having issues with certain elements not showing the rules in the right column of the inspector. Normally I have to close all FF windows and re-open all the sites/tabs I was using. It's very frustrating.
Another buggy things is that sometimes nothing will show in the left column (after page is fully loaded).
Lastly, sometimes the inspector simply won't load. I usually right click on an element on the page and hit Q. When this particular issue happens, it's impossible to open the inspector without closing the tab (not necessarily all tabs / browser windows).

Then, the web page (either completely or partially) goes black. Scrolling becomes very difficult. When scrolling, content is only partially visible and the unvisible parts are black. Fonts turn jagged. Why does this happen?

I'm starting to feel NOT NICE about this. I am on Windows 7 and every day for the past couple of months Firefox stops working several times a day. The only error I get is "Firefox has stopped working" and Windows unsuccessfully looks for a solution. If indeed there even IS such a thing as MOZILLA SUPPORT, I would like to hear from you. This is the most unsatisfactory "support" and question format I've ever experienced, and I've been using computers since 1976. This lack of support, answers/responses & no fixes is unacceptable at best. Please respond. I'm having a problem which recurs intermittently but I've never been able to figure out the cause. In the 'Error Console' I get a continuous message: "TypeError:the_window is undefined" Under it in blue is "about:blank line 4 > eval". Clearing the console works but the message then continues to repeat. The text after 'TypeError:' is sometimes different, but usually something to do with 'window'. ('Error Console', althoygh long deprecated is provided coutesy of Dave Pederick's 'Web Developer Add-on).
Having an error message continuously repeat makes the Error Console unusable because if there are other errors they get lost in the contiuous stream.
I have tried starting in Safe Mode. Using 'Ctrl Shift+J' brings up the Browser Console and I can see the same error repeating many times. I'm running Fx 46.0.1. The problem is not occuring in Fx Developer Version 48.0a2 so I suspect it may be a problem with the current build of Firefox?

Looking over the recent similar questions, users are asked to do the same "script" of do this do that... safe mode, check all your add on's, reset firefox and lose all your stuff... Same steps. I checked several of the threads and found the same thing. The problem still existed after the user did all of this and wasted hours. Most gave up.
Firefox has an issue. Yes I did all the crap 4 weeks ago then magically, a fix was issued, imagine that! When will the current issue be fixed by an update? No other browser is acting as Firefox is so I know it is not anything on my side. It is a shame when you see a great company slide into Lycos mode... I have long used the Adobe Reader plug-in to view pdf files within Firefox on my Windows desktop at work. While I can still read those files using the external Adobe reader, the internal option has stopped working: if I request a file (after clicking on "allow"), Firefox entirely hangs for several minutes, and finally displays a blank page. The same occurs for (Shockwave) Flash, for which I do NOT have the external recourse. Both Firefox (46.0.1) and the Adobe Reader plugin (15.16.20039.54196) are up to date. On my laptop (same system, Windows Enterprise 7) and same Firefox and plugin versions, everything still works fine. Is there some other Firefox option which I perhaps need to look at? Apart from that, two differences between the laptop and work machines may be relevant: laptop is 64-bit, work is 32-bit, and centrally-maintained work computer may have tighter security. I'm not sure why, but several users in my company had Firefox blow up first thing in the morning. I suspect an issue with the Firefox App Data profile, but it is uncertain if anything was wrong with the profile itself, something that saved in the profile after the fact, or something in tandem caused Firefox to crash.
We operate only in a Windows environment. Our version we current deploy via GPO is 40.0. We only update Firefox if our software development team recommends an upgrade to address compatibility issues with our internal websites, and we have used this version since October 2015. We duplicate the App Data profile into the hidden Default User directory so the profile clone is mapped to anyone logging into the computer for the first time. We've essentially been using the same profile since version 28.0, and only making minor updates in the configuration settings without any refreshing form Firefox.
When the crashing began, our users either stated Firefox would either continuously load or have the plugin container report a problem and crash. Restarting computers, testing Firefox in Safe Mode, choosing the Firefox Refresh option, and clearing Internet cache didn't help, but testing Firefox as an admin account worked without any issues. I did notice most users showed an available update for software, such as Adobe Reader or Java, but there were a few that didn't have anything pending. If I uninstalled the pending software for those that had it, Firefox would work until I reinstalled the same software. Reinstalling Firefox didn't work either. If I either have Firefox rebuild the profile or I revert to our default clone profile, the issue goes away.
Everything had been working just fine for users last week, and we did not push any software or updates to computers over the weekend. My guess: something had been cached in the profile folder that expired after 'x' amount of time and caused problems across the board. Am I on the right track? Is there something else we should be or not be doing in this scenario to avoid this sort of problem? This is the first major issue where I had to access each computer and resolve the issue on a per user basis.
I can provide any other information that might be helpful. I have backups of the problematic profiles if reviewing those would be helpful, but my attempts to recreate the scenario with those same profiles have so far been uneventful. Also any other advice for managing and deploying Firefox in a corporate environment would be helpful. Our setup had been working great up until today. Thanks in advance for your help.

When i try to play videos on Youtube or Vimeo, they won't play if they are 2K (1440p) or 4K (2160p), AND the codec used is AVC/MP4.
The video will play fine on resolutions up to and including 1080p. Selecting a higher resolution, or viewing fullscreen and having it auto-select 2K or 4K, and the video immediately stops playing and never resumes. Selecting 1080p again will continue the video playback.
If the codec is WebM/VP9 however, it plays just fine even at 2K or 4K. For Youtube I can see this is the case by checking the 'stats for nerds' info. For Vimeo this is a guess* but it shows the problem is broader than just Youtube.

https://www.youtube.com/html5 shows me 7 blue boxes with checkmarks. So everything is supported.
These settings are all enabled in config:
.*Disabling mediasource.mp4 removes resolutions above 1080p from the available options. Disabling hardware acceleration in the browser does not fix the problem. I'm using the latest Firefox, and recent Nvidia drivers. 150 Mbit connection.
I would like to be able to view the 2K and 4K AVC/MP4 videos. Especially on Youtube where new videos appear in this format. If the video becomes popular Youtube will replace it with a WebM/VP9 version, but this can take days, if it happens at all. Meanwhile I'm stuck at 1080p, and having to manually downgrade the setting before I can watch, because Youtube auto-selects 1440p for my machine (2560 x 1600 display). And I want to watch it at 1440p.
What can I do to remedy this that I haven't tried already?
Edit 1: Just tried watching the vimeo video linked above in a VM with Windows 10 and Edge, and it plays just fine at 2K there. I also tried a Windows 7 VM with Firefox, and it won't play at 2K. And I tried a Windows XP VM with an old IE, and even that plays at 2K.
This strengthens my belief it is somehow a Firefox issue.
Edit 2: OK. Now I'm confused. I tried Win 10 + Firefox = works. Win 10 + Chrome = works. Win 7 + Chrome = works. Win 7 + Firefox = doesn't work! Win 7 + Firefox and all add-ons disabled = also doesn't work. All this in VM.
So Win 10 + Firefox in VM works at 2K. Other browsers in Win 10, and Win 7 work at 2K. But Win 7 + Firefox doesn't work at 2K in VM and on my host machine. The VM probably excludes my graphics drivers as the cause.
Is the problem a combination of Windows 7 + Firefox??

I've had the problem for at least six months. I'm getting tired of re-entering searches. When I think of it, I use the search box in the ribbon along the top of the browser--then I don't lose the search results. But I'd like to be able to use the box on the Google home page without losing search results.
