I'm getting a PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR when trying to visit a site I've gone to scads of times and strongly believe to be valid today.
Is there any sort of workaround that would allow me to get to this site?
(And, BTW, why does Firefox absurdly tell me to inform the web site about this error when the error prevents me from getting to the web site?)

When maximized, a block box in the top-left corner of the browser covers the favicon of the first tab. When not maximized, the tabs shift to the right such that the box is no longer covering any part of the first tab.
When I start with add-ons disabled, the black box disappears. However, setting my theme to default, removing all my add-ons, refreshing and then re-installing Firefox didn't fix the problem.
I also noticed that if I enable the menu bar, the black box leaves the tabs alone and instead covers the 'File' menu.
Any idea how to get rid of it?

Hi, I'm just working on a new website, and I noticed something odd that happens only when I open the site via Firefox. On browsers like Safari and Chrome the rgb hex colour looks identical as in Adobe Photoshop or Apple Pages, where I created content, but Firefox seems to oversaturate the fonts quite nasty for some reason.
I attachted you a screenshot where it should be very visible. If this is a bug, is it possible to get this fixed soon? I don't really want to put a warning on my website for Firefox users if possible.

I like the search suggestions feature. I also like how installed Search Engines are listed as buttons in the search pop-down area, so I can type a search term then click a specific search engine.
What I don't like is the fact that this row of buttons is on the bottom of this area, not the top.
A very common occurrence is that I type something, the suggestions haven't loaded yet, I try to click on one of the Search Engine buttons, but then at the last second the suggestions appear, shift all the buttons away, and I end up clicking on some irrelevant google search term instead of what I wanted.
A related occurrence is that I've typed something, there are suggestions, but by the time I try to click a Search Engine button, the suggestions change (e.g. realising that e.g. there are no suggestions now that I typed an extra word or two) and the buttons suddenly move back up, causing me to click something irrelevant in the web page underneath.
Is it possible to change it so that this list of Search Engine buttons can be made to not keep moving around (as the search suggestions field is not of fixed height), e.g. by fixing it to the top of this area rather than the bottom? If it's already possible, I can't figure out where the option would be (and I did check, I also looked in about:config for terms like "search" and "suggestion" and found nothing promising). Please advise.
After Firefox updated a few days ago, all of my bookmarks disappeared. I have tried to get them back, but nothing has worked.
I have tried a number of recommended methods, and nothing has worked. History does not acknowledge anything before the Firefox update.

Firefox immediately goes to the crash report dialog about half the time I start it. When this happens it takes up to 15 times restarting it for it to actually start. I've tried a clean install and starting in safe mode but the same thing happens. The most recent crash report ID is bp-a433666b-c733-415f-940a-e29210190805. Can anyone help with this?

Since I upgraded to Firefox 68.0.1, the browser keeps crashing excessively; either just individual tabs crashing, or the entire application. I've updated all my add-ons and plugins, and disabled hardware acceleration in both Firefox and Flash Player. I've reduced my add-ons to just the ones I'm not willing to do without (I haven't actually added any add-ons since upgrading, in any event.
If the only solution is downgrading, then that's a problem, too, because Mozilla made it impossible to run a downgraded build of Firefox with the default profile. Even launching it from the Command Prompt as "Firefox.exe -p" allows me to select my default profile, but I stilll get stuck with the panel after that which demands I either make a new profile or exit Firefox.
Using "Firefox.exe -allow-downgrade" and "Firefox.exe -p -allow-downgrade" don't work, either.

Hi, I run firefox on Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon with kernel 4.15.0-36-generic inside Virtualbox (InnoTek Systemberatung GmbH VirtualBox Graphics Adapter (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]). Since I believe Firefox 68, I got systematic tab crashes on various website like old.reddit.com bloomberg.com/europe or the login page of amazon.fr What I tried with no result : removing all extensions, cleaning and then creating a new profile, uninstall purge and reinstall firefox, disabling hardware acceleration, rebooting several times the VM. It only works with Firefox in Safe mode so there's hope.
When the tab crashes, there's no option to report the crash so about:crashes is empty. My VM has plenty of RAM (1,8 GiB used of 7,8 GiB) so I don't think it's due to an OOM killer.
Thanks for the help, I would like to keep using Firefox.

From your help pages concerning file downloads 'Is Do this automatically for files like this from now on disabled? This can happen if the website's server incorrectly specifies the Internet Media type of the file. It also can happen if the server assigns "Content-Disposition: attachment" to the file. '
Then now apparently everyone who has .txt files set to be downloaded falls into one or the other of those two categories above, and every time I wish to download a .txt I have to go through this rigmarole to get it to download, and every time making such downloads automatic is disabled.
I want .txt files to download automatically, as they used to do. Firefox is behaving as if I am only ever going to download .txt files from this one site. The fact that one particular site may not be fulfilling every pettifogging detail of html protocol is NOT a valid reason for firefox to disable automatic downloads of .txt files from every web site.

I had been using FF prior to installing a single boot Linux Mint 19.2 Cinnamon Tina. I went from Linux Lite to Mint. When I opened the freshly installed FF and pressed "sync now" it restored all of my add-ons. All of the files were there. All thumbnails too. Now, when I go to Customize and click on the themes menu, I do not see any thumbnails of the downloaded themes except for the 3 default themes that come with FF. I also am unable to mouse over those 3 themes and have them display what they look like real-time. When I click on manage themes (and I have many), there are no thumbnails. When I right click and ask to view the image it gives me the following error:
Firefox can’t find the file at jar:file:///usr/lib/firefox/omni.ja!/chrome/toolkit/content/mozapps/extensions/null.
Everything was functioning properly until yesterday. So a total of 3 days. How can I resolve this?

This is an example, this glitch happens with every HDR bt2020 video. Edge and Chrome show SRD versions of videos as it should be.
This is Youtube info in Firefox 68.0.1: Codecs vp09.02.51.10.01.09.16.09 (337) / opus (251) Color smpte2084 (PQ) / bt2020
And this is youtube info for Edge: Codecs vp9 (272) / opus (251) Color bt709 / bt709
As you can see - different color profiles. I have no HDR monitor. Windows 10 HDR settings are grayed out. I have tested Firefox 68.0.1 on Windows 7 with old and slow NVIDIA card and on Windows 7 with middle-level AMD Radeon. Results are the same: Firefox shows HDR versions of the videos.
Btw: the problem in gone if I use Firefox 67.0.4. But problem remains in current Firefox Beta and Nightly. Also I have faced this problem in Firefox 68 for Android: it forces me to watch HDR versions of videos, while my smartprone has SDR screen. I ve got latest video drivers for my GTX1060_6GB. I have cleared profile, cleared cache, reinstalled Firefox, ran Firefox in safe mode. Nothing helped. I still forced to watch HDR videos on SDR equipment.

I found a dozen articles saying the popup asking if password should be saved can be disabled by clicking the dropdown button on the box asking the question.
I am unable to find the drop down arrow. Picture is below.
Any suggestions or information for resolving this would be appreciated immensely.
twist: I want to continue saving the passwords already saved for certain domains, but I need to not be asked about saving others The reason I have multiple usernames/passwords at some domains is I do development work on them, and have a few accounts I use repeatedly. I also make new accounts frequently on these sites, for testing the signup process. That pop up asking about the passwords is a pain in that situation.
Thank you.

ubuntu 16.04, firefox 68.0.1. New instance started after "updated in background" restart just sits there. Add-ons are not started, tabs are not restored as promised. Typing in URL bar and hitting enter does nothing. No response to attempt to open a bookmark. Typing "about:support", no response. I tried removing and re-installing firefox with "sudo apt", no help. Starting firefox without addons, no help. The "about:firefox" display shows no change in version number. A reboot is the only thing that cures this. It has now happened 8 times (8/2, 8/5, 8/9. 8/16 and 4 times earlier). I have about-buildconfig, about-firefox and about-support from 8/2 and 8/5 if they would be helpful.
