I set the about:config settings when I got the new computer early last year. It's been working fine. Suddenly, searches are popping up again to the urlbar.

browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar is still set to false. Keyword.enabled is still set to false.

I see a couple of site references to browser.fixup.alternate.enabled, but it doesn't exist.

How do I get FF back to proper search in the search bar?

Since the latest Firefox latest update yesterday (02/24/2026), each time I try to open a new tab in Firefox it crashes. I get a "gah, your tab has crashed" message but when I hit the "restore" link nothing happens. How do I fix this at my end? Thank you.

I have a situation - which I had previously researched and resolved - that has come back to haunt me.

I use an ultra-widescreen monitor and searching/browsing obviously necessitates a center-screen search box which, up until now, Firefox has provided cleanly and with simplicity. However, I see that (once again) despite cursor placement in the center-screen box the search text is being entered in the address bar which is wholly impractical for me since I have to look about 60 degrees left and upwards to see what I am typing.

I say "again" because when this happened previously I was able to make a config change and resolve it but despite that still being in effect - the ".handoffToAwesomebar" is still set to FALSE - search text now has moved back to the address bar.

A brief search of this community yielded no answers. Is there any other known fix or has this now be thrust upon us permanently and thou shalt adapt?

Cleared the cache etc. Odd time it works but goes back once restarted.

i'm not connecting to my web site www.kroger.com something has me blocked . i tried everything to get in the message says secured connection failed . i called kroger stores and they said it is an internet problem .

I bought a new computer, downloaded Firefox, but cannot figure out how to import all my bookmarks and passwords. (The old computer is out of commission at a repair shop.)

Today, "prioritized email" notifications started to show up in the lower right hand corner of the monitor. They are very annoying! How do I prevent from appearing on the screen?

Finally, how to delete email contacts. I have been doing some, but others show a red triangle and say "cannot delete this". I cant sign into wellsfargo.com with firefox, I CAN sign in with my Avast browser. I have turned off enhanced protection, cleared cache and cookies, restarted my computer. I have called wells fargo and they have informed me that they cant see the sign in attempts and that no blocks to my account were there.

Hi, how do i enable microphone access to dictate to ChatGPT? When i go to my Monzilla Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone a window opens that states: the following websites have requested permission to your microphone. ChatGPT is not listed and there is no option to manually add a new permission. Can you help? Thank you

I keep getting messages from the Sun Sentinel through Mozilla-Firefox and I don't want them.

How do I stop them?

I went to the security tab and see the list of exceptions and the Sun-sentinel.com website does not exist.
