MY FF recently updated to version 1380.1 (64bits) and my Sidebar Bookmarks are gone. That is I have to manually put them back every time I now start FF. I want them to always show when I start FF. When I need extra screen space, I would click the X and they'd disappear for that session. And when I was done, I'd click on View - Bookmarks they'd be reinstalled. And when I shut FF down and returned later, they'd be right there where I need them.

My question is, how do I get back to that setup?

I want to turn off a recently added search bar icon in the new version of the newest version of firefox ? I only use google and don't have other search functions enabled but i dont like seeing this icon that suddenly appeared without warning ?

It is too distracting.

I tried to do the fix using userChrome.css but it just didn't work. Am I doing something wrong?

Also the fullscreen animation fix using the about:config settings doesn't work either.

I have recently got a new work laptop and have imported my bookmarks and passwords. However, I am unable to get the bookmarks toolbar to show up? The usual way of enabling it to always show or only show on new tabs doesn't work and I have a message on the toolbar that says "For quick access, place your bookmarks here on the bookmarks toolbar. Manage Bookmarks..." But nothing works. Please can you assist as it is driving me nuts.

Just downloaded version 140 and ran into an immediate "visual/appearance" problem with regard to the background color(s) of the sidebar bookmarks view. Many themes now have totally dark sidebar colors and not readable (see screenshot image upload with this posting). I always have my bookmarks (almost 1200 of them) displayed in my sidebar, and this is the first time an issue like this has arisen with a Firefox update.

To remedy this scenario, I must use very light colored themes that have a white background when you bring up the sidebar bookmarks. If not, everything is totally dark and unreadable.

Any ideas or help on this one?

A folder on the bookmarks menu that stroes individual bookmarks, fills half the screen of a standard 1080p screen with totally empty white space.

The padding in between each and every single bookmark, in any place that can store bookmarks, will be filled by at least 3 or 4 mm of empty white space. Between every single bookmark.

This is a huge amount of completely pointless scrolling.

Has there been a fix for this cos the chrome folder .css "fix" is not working for me.

If i cant solve this i am going to change browsers. I dont care. I love Firefox and used it since the netscape days in the 90's, but am not going in for another surgery since you people insist of giving people more RSI's.

Is there a working way to move tabs to bottom currently?

This was working until the latest Firefox update and I do not specifically remember how I had changed it last time but I believe it was via the about:config settings page but I no longer see such an option there. I tried achieving this via 3rd party plugins/extensions for Firefox but not a single one worked for the current version of Firefox. I even tried using the UserChrome.css file, as I found an article about this in the forum but it did not work either.

In the attached screenshot I have shown what I have currently and what I used to have and wish to set again if possible.

OS: Firefox version: 136.0.4 (64-bit)

Hi everyone!

Since last update (136?) when I open a page with a video in a new tab, the width of this tab is very small! Almost half my current tab.

(I don't have another example but does this have anything to do with any "media" on a page?)

I have the width set to 152 for years...

When I play a video, the current tab is reduced. Pause= normal tab. Play= small tab. Pause= normal tab...

"browser.tabs.tabMinWidth should have been adhered to."

I just completely reinstalled Firefox: still the same.

What can I do, please?

Hello, Since the update on 24 June 2025, bookmarks are displayed in black text on a black background. Is this normal? If not, how can I resolve the issue? I had set it to dark mode, but even when I switched back to light mode, nothing changed. I would appreciate help from the community or Mozilla if anyone has a website address to contact them. I left my computer for a while, and when I returned and took it off screensaver I started going through my emails when I noticed that the bookmarks on the toolbar are missing. The toolbar is present, and I toggled between only show on new tab, never show and always show a few times, but they're still missing. I even tried bookmarking two webpages, but they were not added to the toolbar. As stated, I have the bookmark toolbar to always show. Firefox just updated yesterday, 4/8/25 to 130.1.0, and I'm pretty sure that they were there this morning, but I can't be totally sure. I noticed my computer had updates available, so knowing updating it would not have any effect on Firefox, I restarted the computer while updating so I could also restart Firefox with a bit of a delay. I had also restarted it twice before without any luck. The only thing I did besides updating Firefox was enabled the sidebar, which I then turned off and still did not have any bookmarks in the toolbar. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, but I may not be able to view and any responses or make the stated changes until Friday.

Hallo, ich arbeite gerne mit geöffneter Sidebar und bisher (bis Firefox-Version: 139.0 waren sowohl die Ordner der Sidebar, wie auch die in Ordnern abgelegten Webseiteneinträge immer in weißer Farbe (vor dunklem Hintergrund). Jetzt nach dem Update von Firefox auf Vers.: 140.0 ist der Hintergrund der Sidebar 'dunkelgrau' und die Schrift der Ordner und Webseiteneinträge sind in schwarzer Farbe, sodaß man diese nicht mehr richtig sehen kann; lediglich die Icon's der Webseiteneinträge sind in der entsprechenden Farbe/Logo der Webseite korrekt zu sehen. Liegt das jetzt am Update von Firefox 139.0 auf 140.0 ?? Die Sidebar war bis gestern noch korrekt und lesbar dargestellt !!

Ever since an update to Firefox from a few weeks ago, I have been having issues with white backgrounds displaying incorrectly in Firefox. I have attached two identical images from the NYT homepage: the first is a screenshot from Chrome and the second is the same exact image but taken from Firefox.

I have also attached another screenshot taken in Firefox from REI.com. You'll see that it's not necessarily just a white background that is causing the weird blue color. It also happens in products images being displayed incorrectly.

I figured this might be a Firefox website appearance setting, but I have played around with it and selected many different permutations and I haven't been able to solve this issue. I have also tried refreshing Firefox, using Firefox in Safemode, disabling all of my plugins/themes, etc. and nothing was fixed.

I am pretty sure this isn't a system wide issue or a monitor issue because these websites are being displayed 100% correct in Chrome and Edge. This is only an issue in Firefox.

Can someone advise?

My monitors are QFD ( 2560 x 1440 ) and I use font scale 125%. With the most recent Firefox these fonts are garbled. They do not display properly. I am using MS Edge for the time being.

I recently set a custom background image for the Firefox new tab page (and possibly the homepage), but now I’d like to remove or replace it.

I’ve already tried:

   Going to about:config and enabling the following:

       browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabWallpapers.customWallpaper.enabled → true

       browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabWallpapers.ui.enabled → true

   Searching for a gear icon or any UI options on the new tab or homepage – but nothing appears.

I also checked about:preferences#home but there are no visible options to manage background images.

How can I remove or change the custom background image? I’d appreciate instructions, config paths, or a file location where I can delete the image manually.

Thank you! p.s. I'm stuck with a background image that makes my shortcuts unreadable and it's driving me crazy. 😅

Some extensions, like Bitwarden or Notes, seem to have added their own shortcut icons between the settings cog and the other functions below the tabs, with seemingly no way to remove them? I already have them in my regular toolbar / extension overflow, which has much more space available, so I don't see the point of why there's duplicate ones in the sidebar taking away tab space?

how do I change weather widget position to left side of Firefox homepage? It was always on the left side and I ran an update this morning and now it is on the right.

Hello Since few weeks (maybe on firefox 132 already, but surely on firefox 133) I observe issue with my firefox UI. While grabbing and holding tab (to change its position, move it on bar), whole tab bar gets thinner which realigns my whole UI. Issue is probably caused by my custom userchrome.css but I need it in current or similar form. Maybe there is some css specialist who can help me remove unnecessary parts of code?

I have been breaking my head over this for about a week. After the last update that was installed, now my tab width is smaller than the minimum width I have set them to. However, this only happens with active tabs from pages that have an embedded video. At first I thought this was just a thing with YouTube, but it seems it also happens with other video sites. I guess it may be related to whenever the playback button displays in the tab title and it detects there is video content.

I would like to know how to fix this behavior so that my tabs are no longer shortened beyond the minimum width setting.
