HI there , if your using latest version of firefox .....there you have an option to change the default language for firefox .

• Go to options of the browser
• Go to content Tab there you see the option for languages and choose the language what you are comfortable with .
• If you want to add other languages then you can just listed below there.

You can install the English version on top of your currently installed Firefox version.

You can find the full version of the latest Firefox 26.0 release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:

Note that some websites try to detect your location via a reverse DNS look up of your IP and offer pages in the local language.

Many thanks for your quick response. Unfortunately this dosen't really solve the problem completely, but more about the content which is loaded when I visit a website.

I should have been more specific. The problem is that my firefox menu under - ALT space - are all in German so you referred me to "options", but I see the German version in the drop down menu's like "Einstellungen" etc.

Is there a way to correct this?

Ok, I can try this out, but it still does not really answer my problem, why it happened - the previous versions of firefox were all English versions.

If I install it as you say, how do I make a backup of all my Bookmarks and History in advance? Do you know the paths to where I find these files?

Hello again mike, first make a backup of your bookmarks look here ..how to do it backup https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer and then re install firefox of english version download from here http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html

Hi Mike. IF you sync ur data with firefox it will sync all data it means our bookmarks, history..everything that you have in your browser..hope this is the answer of your question...
